Vikki began her personal health journey in 1967, taking yoga lessons from a book, The Complete Illustrated Book of Yoga by Vishnudevananda. At that particular time, yoga was frowned upon and there were very few classes for teacher training. In 1976, an Ashram in Sumneytown, Pennsylvania had formal yoga classes taught by Yogi Amrit Desai at the Kripalu Yoga Center. Vikki spent the next two summers in six-week training sessions to become a yoga teacher of Kripalu Yoga, becoming one of the first graduating classes in the United States. Over the next thirty years living in Florida and Arizona, her teaching expanded to recreational centers, juvenile halls, senior centers, churches, spas, fitness centers, and private workshops. She still upholds the traditional methods of Kripalu yoga where the breath and slow controlled movements are practiced with meditation. She recently was certified as a Silver Sneakers Yoga Instructor. In addition to being a Kripalu Yoga and Silver Sneakers instructor, Vikki also became certified in the following massage modalities: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Cupping, Reflexology, Hot Stones, PRRT, Medical, Sports, Myofascial, Lymphatic drainage, and Craniosacral to name a few. Vikki received her Ayurvedic Counselor and Ayurvedic Practitioner’s certification from the California College of Ayurveda Medicine, and is board certified from NAMA (the National Ayurvedic Medical Association). She is proficient in dosha analysis, disease pathology, herbal remedies, and five-sense therapy, has a successful practice, and conducts Ayurvedic workshops. Vikki currently lives in Peoria, Illinois and is the owner of Marmora Ayurvedic Center where her practice expands to private and corporate massage clients and Ayurvedic consultations.
