Author’s Bio The author’s pen name, Wahletta Hale, comes from her half-Cherokee father who gave the name Wahletta to her mother when they married. In real life, the author was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky, then her family moved to rural Ohio when she was three weeks old, where she grew up. Many of the scenes of My Brother's Finder, My Brother's Keeper, and Twin Mysteries At The Old Post Office are set in Ohio. Although the author resided several years in a small coastal fishing village in Florida, the scenes of Missing Starr are set in a small fictional coastal fishing village named Capwater in Florida. She drew upon her experiences as a survivor of tragedy, a person of faith, a member of a large rural family, an animal lover, a real estate broker, and a bookshop/café entrepreneur to lend authenticity to the events of the novel. Her love of animals is evident in the way she weaves the family pets into each of her stories. She is an advocate of pet rescue shelters and encourages people to adopt rather than buy a pet. Each book is in honor of her late mother who loved a good mystery and wanted to be a writer herself. Wahletta lives in Florida, not far from the coast.
