Gawd the FMC was horrible

I picked this series back up after not reading it for quite a while; I had to go back and listen to a few chapters of the previous book to get refreshed. This book started off in what felt like the middle of a story and I realized that this series is written more like an ongoing soap opera. I remembered why I stopped reading it. This story was especially frustrating the FMC was an absolute idiot! She was so frustrating and an absolute cow! I don't think I have ever had such a visceral reaction, I understand she had a horrific experience in her youth but come on. She is a lawyer specializing in cases involving children who have been SAed, yet she is this emotionally and intellectually dumb, unable to follow simple instructions and operates on a superficial and selfish level. I just can't believe it and like her. She was just awful.
I came back to this series because I listened to some Kindred tales books (20.2, 20.3 and 21.1) that I really enjoyed so i thought huh let's give the series another shot. nope! I'll be sticking to the tales and not the main soap. I'm just not interested in the ongoing plot of this horde Darvio guy... gives me the ick and not in a normal villian way just in an I could do without this whole aspect in the book.
