Histoire
Beginning in the predawn hours of airports in the Northeast, we meet the ticket agents who unknowingly usher terrorists onto their flights, and the flight attendants inside the hijacked planes. In New York City, first responders confront a scene of unimaginable horror at the Twin Towers. From a secret bunker underneath the White House, officials watch for incoming planes on radar. Aboard the small number of unarmed fighter jets in the air, pilots make a pact to fly into a hijacked airliner if necessary to bring it down.

Polls reveal that 85 percent of Americans believe there was a conspiracy behind Lee Harvey Oswald. Some even believe Oswald was entirely innocent. In this encyclopedic, absorbing audiobook, Vincent Bugliosi shows how the public has come to believe such lies about the day that changed the course of history. Bugliosi has devoted almost 20 years of his life to this project, and is determined to show that, despite the overwhelming popular perception, Oswald killed Kennedy and acted alone.

Description
New York Times reporters Jim Dwyer and Kevin Flynn rely on hundreds of interviews; thousands of pages of oral histories; and phone, e-mail, and emergency radio transcripts. They cross a bridge of voices to go inside the infernos, seeing cataclysm and heroism, one person at a time, to tell the affecting, authoritative saga of the men and women, the 12,000 who escaped and the 2,749 who perished, who made 102 minutes count as never before.

Hard to describe…
It’s hard to say a book that describes the 102 minutes from the first plane hitting the towers to the 2nd tower collapsing, enjoyable but it was definitely interesting and informative. It covered allot of ground- some history on sky scrapers in general, communication issues between and within the police and fire department, and individual’s in the building both those who made it out safely and those who didn’t.
It’s such a tragic incident in history and should never be forgotten. I’m glad I listened to this well written book.

I'm conflicted.
I mean, after listening to this book, how can one say they "loved" or even "liked" this story. I mean...yeah, you get it. So this review isn't a review of the individual experiences recounted, but of how they were presented in this book. At least, for me, the large portion of the book was a description of the towers' engineering and its role in the resulting death count. Which, hey, maybe that is fascinating for some. Sure, it's interesting and needed to be part of the book, but it was a LOT of it. Then, the tales themselves ... I wish they were told from the survivor's perspective in first person. Describing what the saw and felt as if recalling it by hypnosis and with more detail (which, if pages and pages if technical engineering and stats weren't repeated numerous times throughout the book, would have been easy.).
The narrator was great. Thanks to all those brave survivors and emergency personnel who chose to tell their stories. That must have been very difficult.
