First and foremost, I really enjoy this series, and the story at the heart of this book is good.

But...

The author obviously went to the UK to research this book and to justify the trip included every detail and historical story he heard whilst there. So many meandering descriptions of peoples and places that were not needed.

I enjoy the narrator but please don't do English accents again, especially regional ones.

Edit this down to 13 hours and you probably have a very solid book.

I usually really like the actor’s performances in reading this series, and I feel really mean to say this, but his attempts at other accents make this book almost unbearable. The producer of this book would have been advised to hire a second actor, since most of the book takes place in Yorkshire, London and Amsterdam, and the story itself is part of a long series (so can’t be skipped). So bad, distracting and jarring I had to relisten to sections of the story a few times because I lost track of the plot. Brutal. Sorry.
