À propos de cet audio

When the fourth princess of Istalam is due to dedicate herself to a path serving the crown, she makes a choice that shocks everyone, herself most of all: She leaves.

In hiding and exiled from power, Miyara finds her place running a tea shop in a struggling community that sits on the edge of a magical disaster zone. But there's more brewing under the surface of this city—hidden magic and hidden machinations—that threaten all the people who've helped her make her own way.

Miyara may not be a princess anymore, but with a teapot in hand, she'll risk her newfound freedom to discover a more meaningful kind of power.

A Coup of Tea is the first book of the Tea Princess Chronicles, a cozy fantasy series full of magic tea, friendship, and lifting people up even when the odds seem impossible.

This book is beautiful. If you've enjoyed slice of life genre anime or manga or enjoyed books like Legends and Lattes or Can't Spell Treason Without Tea, this book may be for you. It's slow in terms of action, but the world-building and character development are such that you won't mind as long as you don't need action driven plots.

The book is a 90s-early 2000s throw back in a way as acceptance of diversity is a major theme. It pays homage to the Asian cultures the world-building is inspired by by making finding your place serving the community a major theme as well-- and I find it does so in a way that is nuanced and respectful, which is a mark white people's books based on cultures not their own often miss. I've seen it done badly and when it is it just makes the MCs seem like doormats rather than complex people who love their culture even if they take umbrage with some aspects of it. Now, I myself am white, so please don't take my word on this as anything like definitive, but I think most people will see the genuine effort here to do justice to the cultures that inspired this book at the very least.

Masterful performance by Natalie Naudus as usual. I highly recommend people check out any of the books she has narrated that sound up their alley at all. My favorites by her so far are: Wicked Wish for fantasy; and for sapphic romance One Last Stop and I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston; and the On the Record duology by Lee Winter which she recorded under the pseudonym Victoria Mei.

Truly Beautiful

Recommend for anyone wanting characters with a personality, a plot that pulls you in, and writing that brings the world and characters to life. Love the way the author describes the world so vividly. Will be reading her other works after this.

Phenomenal writing with fleshed out characters
