There is no word to describe how much I love this series. I went through so many emotions while reading it, I laughed out loud, I squealed from excitement, I raged, and I cried. It is truly a magical and fantastic adventure and even though I’ve read it three times already, it’s still as good as the first time. This book is not as good as the perfection that is ACOMAF, but it is very close.
This book owned me, body and soul. It is packed with action, the characters can't seem to catch a break, and neither could I. I was at the edge of my seat for the whole ride, it was torture to put it down because I had to sleep or go to work. It would have been worth it to take a sick day just to continue reading this book and enjoying every single minute of it. The last 100 pages are a real roller-coaster, the action, the stress, the non-stop heart-pounding… It’s an unputdownable book.
Feyre, Rhysand, and their court of dreamers are about to go to war. They need allies and resources, and quickly if they want to have a chance at stopping Hybern’s army who’s ready to tear down the wall to enslave or slaughter everyone. Desperate as they are, their only chance is to try to unite the 7 courts against their common enemy, something that has not been done in thousands of years. No matter how hard they try, the King of Hybern always seems to be two steps ahead, with his army, his apparently limitless powers, and the power of the Cauldron itself.
Feyre and Rhys risk losing everything and everyone they hold dear, but they are both willing to pay the ultimate price to save the ones they love. Among all the action, scheming and politics, they are trying to think about a way to protect their loved ones and to protect each other, their despair and fragile hope are weaved all throughout the book, making me love them even more than I did before.
Sweet, selfless, and perfect Rhys. I love him so much.
I was also very happy to see more of Lucien in this book, but I still think that he deserves so much more! He is amazing and it breaks my heart to see how lonely he is, how he is yearning for a love that seems to be out of his reach. He is trying to figure out where he belongs now that he is not welcome in the Spring Court anymore, and I just wanted to hug him so badly… He’s the best (after Rhys). I really do hope that he gets his book and his well-deserved happy ending.
I also like that we had the chance to see Tamlin as a more complex character in this book, he is still a jerk, but at least he had more depth than in ACOMAF where he was just an overprotective macho willing to do anything to get his perfect groomed bride back. I don’t like him yet, but I was able to connect a little more with him in the second part of this book and to appreciate his character a little more. The same can be said for Nesta, I appreciate her more after reading this book, I had forgotten how much her character changed in this book (in a good way).
I am really obsessed with this series and the characters. Sarah J. Maas mixed so many different personalities in this series, from sweet and emotional, to cold-hearted and creepy, and she has a way to make her characters feel so real. Their actions, thoughts, emotions, and banter, I wish I could be a part of their group.
So I will just try to survive the book hangover that is sure to follow and probably cry some more while thinking about this AMAZING, GREAT, AWESOME, AND UNPUTDOWNABLE series. 😍

📚E-BOOK📚&🎧AUDIO 🎧
I finally decided to finish this series, and wow—this was the best of the bunch. I cried, I mourned, I smiled. I actually had to force myself to put it down and go to sleep… which didn’t really work, because my brain was still in Prythian.
First, the full-cast audio? Mind-blowing. It lifts the story to another level—honestly, all audiobooks should be like this. The world is painted with such crisp, vivid detail that I could see every court in my head—their attitudes, their aesthetics, their edges. With the cast breathing life into each character, the big moments hit like a tidal wave. Yes, I ugly-cried on the subway. Yes, people stared. Worth it.
Story-wise, the stakes are brutal and beautiful. We’re back in the Spring Court as Feyre plays a deadly game of deception to gather intel on Tamlin’s maneuvering and an invading king who wants Prythian on its knees. As war bears down, she has to choose who to trust among dazzling, dangerous High Lords and hunt for allies in places that made my jaw drop. There’s darkness and light, storm and calm, despair and—somehow—hope. Savage battles. Harsh, regrettable choices. Nerve-wracking gambits in a world that would happily snap humans in half. I loved the romance plot in the second book, but here? The politics hooked me. Not a single boring beat.
The characters are everything. Feyre is wildly inspirational—easy to connect with, fierce but human. Rhysand is, and will forever be, the love of my life. The Inner Circle (Cassian, Mor, Azriel, Amren) remains the blueprint for found family. I even liked Tamlin a little in the end—emphasis on little. And now I’m feral for more on Lucien, Tarquin, Helios… give me every scrap.
This plot is a whirlwind—twists on twists. I couldn’t predict the big swings and I loved being wrong. It’s brilliantly written and emotionally relentless in the best way. By the end, I felt rung out and grateful.
Some favorite lines that wrecked me (and then put me back together):
• “Only you can decide what breaks you, Cursebreaker. Only you.”
• “What we think to be our greatest weakness can sometimes be our biggest strength.”
• “We’re all a broken, in our own ways—In places no one might see.”
• “It is the family you make, not the one you are born into, that matters.”
Bottom line: ACOWAR is sweeping, savage, and tender—political chess with a molten heart. The audio full cast takes it from great to unforgettable. If you’ve stalled on the series, this is your sign to finish.
