A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

Histoire
In the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, the ice dragon was a creature of legend and fear, for no man had ever tamed one. When it flew overhead, it left in its wake desolate cold and frozen land. But Adara was not afraid. For Adara was a winter child, born during the worst freeze that anyone, even the Old Ones, could remember. Adara could not remember the first time she had seen the ice dragon. It seemed that it had always been in her life, glimpsed from afar as she played in the frigid snow long after the other children had fled the cold.

Auteur(s): George R.R. Martin
Description
Dubbed the American Tolkien by Time magazine, George R. R. Martin has earned international acclaim for his monumental cycle of epic fantasy. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author delivers the fifth book in his spellbinding landmark series - as both familiar faces and surprising new forces vie for a foothold in a fragmented empire.
In the aftermath of a colossal battle, the future of the Seven Kingdoms hangs in the balance once again - beset by newly emerging threats from every direction. In the east, Daenerys Targaryen, the last scion of House Targaryen, rules with her three dragons as queen of a city built on dust and death. But Daenerys has three times 3,000 enemies, and many have set out to find her. Yet, as they gather, one young man embarks upon his own quest for the queen, with an entirely different goal in mind.
To the north lies the mammoth Wall of ice and stone - a structure only as strong as those guarding it. There, Jon Snow, 998th Lord Commander of the Nights Watch, will face his greatest challenge yet. For he has powerful foes not only within the Watch but also beyond, in the land of the creatures of ice.
And from all corners, bitter conflicts soon reignite, intimate betrayals are perpetrated, and a grand cast of outlaws and priests, soldiers and skinchangers, nobles and slaves, will face seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Some will fail, others will grow in the strength of darkness. But in a time of rising restlessness, the tides of destiny and politics will lead inevitably to the greatest dance of all.
Ce que les critiques en disent
"Filled with vividly rendered set pieces, unexpected turnings, assorted cliffhangers and moments of appalling cruelty, A Dance with Dragons is epic fantasy as it should be written: passionate, compelling, convincingly detailed and thoroughly imagined." (The Washington Post)
"Long live George Martin...a literary dervish, enthralled by complicated characters and vivid language, and bursting with the wild vision of the very best tale tellers." (The New York Times)
"One of the best series in the history of fantasy." (Los Angeles Times)

I've loved all of the books in this series however
I have really enjoyed all of the books in this series but the voices are so far out of wack in
this book it's very distracting. I noticed this starting a fair bit in the last book but in this one Roy really lost it! I'm not sure if there are anymore books in this series but I don't think I could make it through another book with Roy doing such a poor job of the voices.

Changing voices
I was really disappointed with this narration. When I first started this series, I was very pleased with Roy Dotirice's variety of voices and his commitment to the songs and battles. After some time though, he seemed to lose track of the voices/accents that he had given to certain characters m, and kept changing them. Most disappointingly was Denarys and Arya. He changed Denarys from a young girl's soft westerosi accent to some gypsy sounding gutter rat. His first voice for Arya was very fitting for a Westerosi girl, who had a bit of roughness to her, but again he ended up changing her voice to the same gutter rat gypsy.
His Tywin Lansiter voice was great, but he assigned to to many other characters, same with Varys and Little Finger. I would have preferred him to keep the main characters voices unique, and have the more insignificant characters have less flavour to their voices, assuming he ran out of voices he could do.
The most consistent voices he had were Tyrion, Jon Snow, and Cersei.
Although it was a big disappointment to me, this was really his only flaw, and he was all together a decent narrator. Great at reading battle scenes, death of main character scenes, and even sex scenes. I give it 2 stars because book 4 and 5 were the books where he started losing track of the voices, and I was so invested in the story that it bothered me a lot.

Roy’s Character voices change like the wind
I find it highly irritating that I have paid a good amount of money for the Game of Thrones audio books only to find that from book to book, chapter to chapter, sentence to sentence the voices of the characters are so changeable that you find yourself confused by it. Pick one voice for each prominent character for the books. Go back to book one and listen to the voice you gave Tyrion and use it again! Don’t then use it for Daenerys in book 5! That stinks of laziness and is very irritating for the reader. I expected that at the very LEAST this would be done by a voice actor or narrator.

Continuity issues
Great story but the narrator changes the voices or accents of characters very often. Becomes hard to keep track after a while...

Passable
I love the series but did not have time to read the latest book so I opted to listen to it. Man was that a bad choice. The narrator butchers so many voices and gets confused mid sentence which accent he wants to use. Honestly can't recommend thid.

Annoying
Awesome story, loved it! The narrator’s regular reading voice is very pleasant, however the voices he affects when reading dialogue can be truly cringeworthy. Character voices differ between books, as well as name pronunciation.

Very good
The characters in the first book were all unique. In this most recent book the total cast has ballooned, and the narrator wasn’t able to keep the characters unique or even keep their original voices and mannerisms. Maybe more than one narrator is needed when you have so many characters (?)

The longest volume with the least story.
The weakest volume. The main storyline almost gets lost in repetitive descriptions with no resolutions
