Description

Hannah knows there's been a mistake. She doesn't need to be institutionalized. What happened to her roommate at that summer program was an accident. As soon as the doctor and judge figure out that she isn't a danger to herself or others, she can go home to start her senior year - those college applications aren't going to write themselves. But until then, she's determined to win over the staff and earn some privileges so that she doesn't lose her mind to boredom.

Then Lucy arrives. Lucy has her own baggage, and she's the perfect project to keep Hannah's focus off all she is missing at home. But Lucy may be the one person who can get Hannah to confront the secrets she's avoiding - and the dangerous games that landed her in confinement in the first place.

Kept ya listening, but there was no big crescendo.

This book was OK in that it kept ya listening but only because you were hoping for something bigger to happen which just never did. It fell short

This was def a psychological ride. At times has you guessing yourself what was real and what was the characters hallucinations! 5 star read!!

Super Interesting But The End Fell Flat A Bit

I loved the perspective of the narrator, wondering if it was reliable or not. Plus putting a light on the mental health community in a way that isn't detrimental and shows those who experience mental health issues are still very 'normal' (in my opinion, however I could be wrong) was really interesting. I was very engaged throughout until very close to the end and then it lost my attention a bit. I think I was looking for more about their life afterwards but didn't get enough of that.

what a ride

what a wild ride that turned out to be. was easily taken into the story and blazed through it in a day and a half. very enjoyable to listen to and well written

Really enjoyed listening to this story.

The audio was excellent, made it feel like you were there. The story helps shed a light on mental illness.

Fast paced & interesting concepts

Loved the narrator! Book moves along properly. The plot twist at the end is exciting too! You're always questioning the main character's state of mind, the doctors, her friends, etc. I recommend :)

this is good for anyone

labeled YA. I'm old enough that young adult annoys me, and this book did at times, but they were very few. this was a unique look at a mental illness and many of the things that mental illness entails for a young person. It hooked me from the beginning and didn't disappoint. This one definitely deserves more stars than reported now. Give it a try, it's worth a read.

Anti-climactic

I actually skipped several chapters, as the pace was slow. I didn't love the first person narrative but can appreciate why it was used.
