Description

My enemy’s daughter...offered to me as payment towards a debt. Now she’ll become my wife...my pet.
I wasn’t always cold-hearted and vindictive.
She made me that way.
Charlotte Davis...the most beautiful and privileged princess there is.
I’d kill for her to be mine. We met by chance at her father’s wedding...and then again years later.
But she forgot about me. Ignored me. Enraged me.
Then her father did the unforgivable, and I made it my lifelong goal to ruin him....
By taking her as payment towards a debt he owed.
A debt she will repay by marrying me.
Until death do us part.

A Debt Owed is an enticing new dark billionaire alpha male romance by New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Clarissa Wild.

Loved this book

Loved Easton & Charlotte. Danger, twisted, action, dark, disturbing, steamy, sexy and so good. I didn’t want to stop listening to this book because it was just that amazing. Be aware there is a cliffhanger.
Once again Kai & Wen knocked it out of the park with their amazing narration of this book.

An alpha couple trying to best the other

This is my first Clarissa Wild book and I think it's pretty good. Be warned, some details may be triggers. I personally don't find it too disturbing, but if you're sensitive towards captor/captive, "selling" a daughter, etc., then please go on to another book.

The couple met years before and their initial meeting was a cute flirtation, but was ruined by Charlotte's high-brow father. He seems to like caging his fiery daughter at any chance he can get so he could use her to his advantage for the company. When Easton and Charlotte meet several times over the years, Easton was constantly reminded of how he's not of the privileged society and her reluctance to defend him added to his wounds.

In her mind, Charlotte was trying to protect herself as best as she could until she was able to break away from her father, even if it meant ignoring the one guy who seemed to not suffocate her. He interpreted her coldness as a spoiled rich princess and the only way he thinks he can hurt Charlotte's father is by "buying" her. He also hopes to punish Charlotte as well for not defending him in the previous encounters.

Easton's obsession to become richer than Charlotte's father made him very successful and he never forgot about the woman who hurt him. When he saw the opportunity, he made the offer to her father: die or give Charlotte to him. During their time together, Charlotte becomes irritable and desperate to get out of this new cage she's been confined to. Easton wants to break her and make her his mind and soul, however she fights it at every turn. He wants to give her the love and care she didn't get growing up in his own morbid way, but in order to do that, she needs to let go of her hurt caused by family.

There's an obvious attraction between them and Charlotte craves to be freed and be held at the same time. Her temper is as hot as her alpha husband; she won't back down even if he threatens her.

I applaud the narrators for this book. They voiced their main characters and supporting characters very well and distinctly. Wen Ross continues to impress me with his accents. I've heard him in The Bravta's Baby with his Russian accent and it's believable (to me, at least). He does sound like a younger version of Patrick Warburton or the guys from the Old Spice commercials, so I couldn't take Easton seriously. lol Kai Kennicott was pretty good and I liked how I could tell which character she was voicing. At times, she did sound like the actresses in the black-and-white romance dramas who overact their emotions, but it overall wasn't bad.

Be warned (again), this does end on a cliffhanger.

I don't think I'll be listening to the next book only because the feeling to move onto the next one and the anticipation of what's to come next was missing for me. Maybe I'll just read it if it comes out on Kindle. Overall, good job, Clarissa Wild!

Also, this is a duet narration like Renea Mason's books. :-) LOVE THESE KIND OF AUDIOBOOKS. It makes the stories more believable.

Fantastic Book!

This book has all the elements I enjoy in a dark romance; the struggle for submission, angst, strong heroine and plenty of steamy scenes.

The narrators kept me interested. Their performances were outstanding. I enjoyed the male narrator speaking as Easton and the female aa Charlotte.

This book ends in a cliffhanger. i look forward to listening to the next book to find out what happens with Easton and Charlotte. Will she ever accept him as her husband.

wrong and dumb in so many ways....

He's on revenge mode because of some comments that happened years ago. He will resort to killing. Wow! Talk about a mountain out of a molehill. His over-reactive behavior is repulsive. He could have had her in a 100 different ways. Like... ask her out for a date... duh!! After all, she liked him too. Kidnapping, imprisoning and marring is the best he could do???

He captures her with the threat to kill her father. She has to comply to his sexual demands. So much for romance.

Father sells his daughter. Brother is okay with this. So much for family love.

She can escape but is wishy washy. Oh, I wanted to slap this woman! If only I could.
Her internal dialog is that of a bimbo. This is the worst part of the book.

This is a duet narration. A bit different from what I'm used to. Regardless, the narration is done well.

Sure it ends with a cliffhanger. I'll pass on the next book. I think I'm okay with that because these two aren't going to get any smarter.

Amazing

Charlotte is on stubborn strong woman. Easton is one complicated pig headed man. They both have complicated feelings toward each other. Love the twists in this story. Love the chemistry between Easton and Charlotte. Can’t wait to read more. Loved the narrators.

Suspense, lies, deceit......

I read this book from Clarissa and loved it so when I saw that it was on audio I had to give it a try. It was not a disappointment! Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did a phenomenal job. Their voices brought out the raw emotions of the words. It made you feel something more than when you read it yourself.

Dark Billionaire Romance

A Debt Owed by Clarissa Wile is a Dark Billionaire Romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross. This is the first book in The Debut Duet.

This is the first book of Clarissa’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. The book does end on a cliffhanger but that was not a surprise since it is part of a duet series. I can’t wait for A Debt Repaid to be released on audible.

Kai and Wen did an amazing job on the dual narration. They really brought the story to life.

half of a story!

I noticed that this audiobook was a bit short but I now realize that it's because it's half of the story! It ends with no conclusion, just a cliff hanger. I also had a hard time getting in to the story. The characters don't act reasonably. The male protagonist is really delusional and everyone acts like this behavior is way too normal.
The narrators were the only good thing about this for me.

Cliffhanger

First, this is a cliffhanger, so if you don’t want to be left without the second part, is wait to listen. Performance was awesome, as always. They did the best they could work with. The storyline had potential but it seems pretty amateur compared to other novels I’ve listened to. I probably won’t wait for the next book. The male had potential but his internal dialogue seemed like he was falling for her (for no reason) but he was really a jerk. Not dominating jerk but just an all around jerk. The female was lame. She was repetitive and felt bad in some instances that didn’t make sense and there was no reason for it. I know this is all vague but if you listen to the story, you’ll understand what I’m saying. I would suggest passing on this one though.
