I have enjoyed reading several of the Rebus novels in paper or eBook formats. I think that this was the first Audible version I have listened to. I am accustomed to the thick accents of regional British and Irish speakers, and non-native English speakers. Few have been as difficult to understand as those on this recording. Especially when there was background sound. That greatly diminished my enjoyment of the book. I appreciate that the accents of the characters in the narration are realistic. But I will stick to the text versions of Mr. Rankin's works in future.
