À propos de cet audio
Set in rural Ireland in 1903 amid rising political tensions, A New Landlord weaves the Irish/English struggle into a gothic supernatural tale. Returning to his ancestral home to inherit lands and businesses, a sickly Albert LeStrange arrives to his, once was, quiet home, only to discover that the locals are no longer friendly towards their English landlord.
Albert, who suffers from chronic scoliosis pain and as a result has become addicted to morphine, is an unassuming but pragmatic man who only wants to understand the grievances of the locals all the while keeping his promise to his dying father that he will not sell the LeStrange land to the tenant farmers.
Beatrice, Albert's sister, has watched over their father while Albert grew his career as a merchant lawyer in London and busies herself by transforming the family textile business into a successful haute couture manufacturer and finding a wife for her brother.
Into this mix, sightings of a terrifying spirit in the house have been on the rise. Harriet, Cook at LeStrange manor, informs the siblings of the cruel history of their grandfather and that the spirit is that of a former housekeeper. Albert arranges a seance as an entertainment for a visiting English friend but discovers a truth he had not prepared for and a result of which sees Albert change his very nature.
