I’m absolutely horrified by the performance that Price is putting in on this recording. If this was book 1 I would never have bothered going past his 2cnd chapter.

Idk what he is doing, His narration was perfect in book 1&2, but now he seems to have a weird Shatner-esque cadence and every sentence seems to go up at the end like a question, even when it isn’t. The overall effect is whiny and irritating. I find myself wanting to skip every one of his chapters.

I have no idea why this is so off from his last book in this series.

why does it sound like the male reader is ai?? who proof listened to this and went "yep. that's what the listeners want to listen to for hours" the lilting almost made me dnf. super disappointed.

Where to begin....I listened to the books before this one, but dear gods, this was terrible. PWP, and the male.voice acting had me cringing EVERY Bastian chapter. Not quite robotic, but his cadence and pitch variations were exactly the same in every single sentence, whether he was angry or sad or happy...Totally distracting from the plot to the point I don't even remember what I listened to because I only finished it to say I didn't waste the credit.

leave the series where it was and spin a story in your head. You're better off.

BTW, the female narrator was excellent. as always.

almost a DNF

The male narrator’s intonation is incredibly repetitive from sentence to sentence - it’s halting, lilts at the end of the sentence, and he over pronounces the last word in almost every sentence. He’s also all about a hard pause after each sentence. It is super distracting and I had to work far too much to ignore it in order to focus on the story. Did he not listen back to any of his performance? Didn’t anyone before publishing this? For the life of me, I don’t understand how anyone would think he did even a passable job. The female narrator was excellent and I really wish she had been the one to read the whole thing.

The story was great and the female reader was also good! But oh... the male reader made this series almost unbearable to listen to. He ended every sentence with an upward inflection of his voice as though the sentence never ended. It was difficult to make it through.

I have liked the previous books in the series but for some reason, I could not stand the male narrator in this one and had to return the book. Unfortunate because I did like the story line and the female narration was decent!

The female actor is great in all three audiobooks, however the male actor got worse and worse. Very breathy, ends most sentences like a question and it sounds almost like an AI voice then a real person. No one talks that way naturally. I had to see the story through though and enjoyed it.

… I can’t believe that anyone actually listened to this man pre read something and say ‘yes, that’s perfect!’ It’s just terrible, and there are so many male chapters in this book, that I’m only on chapter 7 and I cringe every time it’s a male chapter. I seriously feel like I’m listening to a documentary, not human emotions and interactions. This book series is so darn good and if I didn’t have two small children, I’d buy a hard copy to read in a heart beat, over listening to this horrible voice lol Female reader was awesome, wish they just had her read the whole book.

The story was interesting but the cadence of the male narrators voice was terrible. I cringed through those chapters. I had to take a break periodically because it was so hard to follow the lilting sentences. Very frustrating to listen to. I debated returning it but managed to stick through it as I liked the story. Not sure what went awry with his voice acting in this book.
