À propos de cet audio

After more than two years on the bestseller lists, Khaled Hosseini returns with a beautiful, riveting, and haunting novel of enormous contemporary relevance.

A Thousand Splendid Suns is a breathtaking story set against the volatile events of Afghanistan's last thirty years—from the Soviet invasion to the reign of the Taliban to post-Taliban rebuilding—that puts the violence, fear, hope and faith of this country in intimate, human terms. It is a tale of two generations of characters brought jarringly together by the tragic sweep of war, where personal lives—the struggle to survive, raise a family, find happiness—are inextricable from the history playing out around them.

Propelled by the same storytelling instinct that made The Kite Runner a beloved classic, A Thousand Splendid Suns is at once a remarkable chronicle of three decades of Afghan history and a deeply moving account of family and friendship. It is a striking, heartwrenching novel of an unforgiving time, an unlikely friendship, and an indestructible love—a stunning accomplishment.©2007 TKR Publications, LLC. The narrator is terrific. The story kind of slow and boring thru the first half, but without my noticing, I was hooked and fell in love with the characters (truly hate a few of them forever as well). I cried too much. Had far too much empathy and confused what-are-you-doings, but do believe that's one of the joys of reading: that we can learn about other people and the ways of others and hopefully become better people ourselves as a result of the journey.
A really good book. Really good. This one will be with me for a very long time.

poignant. terrible. love this book.

I have been lucky to be surrounded by Afghan women since I immigrated from Ethiopia to Canada. One of the strongest and most loving women. They treat everyone like family 🌷 and this books showed just that

Afghan women are one of a kind

This is a beautiful novel and introduced me to a world I would not have known about. I must also compliment the narrator. Her reading was so lovely and flawless. It made the novel even more enjoyable. She’s very talented.

Incredible story and narration.

The story is one of joy, hope, heartbreak, violence and redemption. When I bought it I saw that someone had complained of the narrator’s accent. I think her mild English accent adds to the imagery, to the story, and brings life to the characters. I enjoyed it a great deal.

A heartwarming yet heartbreaking story of love, violence and war
