I enjoyed the book but had to listen to it in 2.75x speed. I usually listen at 1.7 but this one was just so slowly told I had to move it along.

Having been to Italy twice I’ve tasted many flavours of gelato and love it , so this story reverberated with me . I love the descriptions of this great Italian family . Having a family member desk with domestic abuse (verbal) I can also appreciate Iris’s story in this regard .
A rich story with several themes . Enjoyed this book very much !

No one - NO ONE!- would sacrifice their whole life and happiness to keep a a dumb recipe secret, That’s just not plausible. But even though I’m cringing I’ll listen to the very end because I’m a Josie Silver fan.

Loved the story and how it unfolded. The only thing that somewhat bothered me was the voice put in by the narrator had when trying to imitate the New York Italian accent. It seemed exagerrated and caricatural. Other than that, excellent read!

Some may say that the pace was too slow but Josie Silver consistently develops the story and the characters within. There’s a longer timeline in her books and more build up which I enjoy bc it feels more realistic for the love interests.

I do wish that for the narration the New York accent of Gio and his family was a better or just don’t do it at all. Overall it was a good read/listen.
