Description

I inherited a freaking husband.
Grandpa's will was a shocker: huge fortune, gorgeous ranch, and the best horse ever.
The fine print? Marrying Mr. Grump-alicious.
The man who's supposed to protect me from...what, exactly?
That's what I hope to find out if Drake Larkin ever talks.

I know what I'm in for the first time his glance tears me open.
A broody enigma who's large and in charge.
A mute who curls my toes when he barks a few words.
A silly, shameful, is-this-real-life crush I can't afford.

Did I mention our pretend marriage-rodeo lasts six damn months?
Long enough to teach my heart cartwheels.
Time enough to seal this madness with a kiss.
Insane enough for secrets to slip - and sting.

Grandpa's last wishes scare me. So do Drake's real motives.
But it's my beast of a "husband" who makes ridiculous seem right.
Have I found my knight?
Does love have a prayer when life throws us a dragon?

From Wall Street Journal best-selling author Nicole Snow - a mistake meant to be. One moody alpha slayer gives his all to rustle up the damsel of his dreams. Full length romance novel with a heartwarming Happily Ever After.

Unexpected Love

This is a great book, twists and turns around every new corner. More bad guys then you can handle and a crazy cool horse.
I didn't want to go to sleep, it had me laughing and crying.
Standalone with no cliffhangers and a great epilogue.

Accidental wonderfullness

I read this first, it sounded so good I couldn't wait for it to come to Audio. I was concerned about it on audio, it is scary that the wrong narrator could ruin a book. I'm happy to say that didn't happen with this one. I thought Chelsea Hatfield was the perfect choice for Bella, she sounded like the right age, and I never doubted her. Jean Paul Mordrake was also great and I Iike listening to him.

The marriage coming first is always a great story, though this was a romance story with a crime feel to it as well. The other story was in many ways more prominent, but the romance was also fantastic. The books description is quite good.

The story follows Bella and Drake as they try to hang onto her grandfather's oil company and ranch. The deceptions and who to believe, was great. Watching Bella grow as a woman in maturity and learning to stand up for herself.
It was a great story in print and great in audible as well.

Twelve Good

This book was fine until chapter thirteen & then Bella's father told his bull**** story. Proving that grandpa did the right thing. A mother that calls her daughter a ugly duckling & stupid, while bullying her for her entire life (including slapping her) because she can't get her way & a father who NEVER called his wife on her bull..Funny how neither showed for the burial but flew to the lawyers office.Upon the reading of the will they BOTH tried to bully Bella (Mother by ranting & raving and Father by his silence). When they brought the big bad to her home that showed their true colors. After they figured out they couldn't get their hands on the money they changed. Really? The Mother (GOLDIGGER) is,was & always will be a you know what & Dad is a whimp. Then the author used Drake's backstory as an excuse to turn him from a hero to a zero. After chapter twelve I kind of lost interest. This book was a big disapointment. Bella was a idiot, I mean who jumps in a car without seeing who's driving. Edison, the horse was smarter than everybody in this story.

eh

This author tends to be hit or miss for me. I think the story is probably ok, but this one is seriously tweakin my pet peeve. can't tell what is inner rambling, and what is actual dialogue. It went on a bit too long. There are a few places where words seem misplaced. The male narrator is ok, the female narrator over-does it.

Hot.

Nicole Snow’s writing appeals to the guilty pleasure side of me and I’m having unapologetic fun listening to her creative ways of marrying by mistake in this series of standalones.

Wow, this one is hot and a bit dirty. The marriage and danger story-lines are over-the-top, but heck, I went with them anyway. It was fun. Then there’s the romance. Wowza. The attraction and sexual tension between the hero and heroine is well described; and then the guilt free sex because you’re already married appeals to me. Plus, when this couple gets it on, it’s down and dirty. Usually, I complain about too much sexual detail and you get plenty of it here. So why aren’t I complaining now? Well, it didn’t feel like a sex manual, feelings were involved, and I had the pleasure of narrator Jean Paul Mordrake's smexy voice in my ear. Wow. Chelsea Hatfield was a good narrator too, but she was often stilted and not as polished as JP Mordrake. But together, they made a great pairing as he makes the hero sound heroic and sexually confident, and Ms Hatfield makes the heroine sound youthful and innocent yet smart, just as the plot requires. So I definitely recommend the Audible version of this story.

Interesting storyline, one-dimensional characters

Though implausible, this book has a very interesting premise. Bella inherits an oil company, ranch and fortune from her much beloved grandfather. Her greedy parents are trying to force her to sell to a mob-style villain who owns a competing oil company. However, the will stipulates that Bella must live on the ranch and hold onto all assets for six-months. The grandfather foresaw the trouble she’d have with her parents and the villain and secretly arranged a proxy-marriage for her with his trusted employee, Drake, to protect her and bolster her confidence to stand up to all the pressure. I enjoyed the storyline and the author does a good job of weaving this tale with people in the small town, Drake’s past, villains, law enforcement, and a Houdini-like horse who is loyal to Bella.

Unfortunately the characters are one-dimensional caricatures .... Bella is a damsel-in-distress, Drake is a former-military badass with a heart of gold, Bella’s dad is downtrodden, Bella’s mom is a harpy, the villains are like mobsters, the small town is typical of other small towns. All very simplistic. When the mom reforms at the end of the book she morphs from Cruella d’Ville to June Cleaver. The most interesting and complex character is Edison, the horse! Also, the chemistry between Bella and Drake feels forced with each of them having tons of internal monologuing about how sexy they find each other, like the reader needs to be convinced. There’s no subtlety or slow burn build-up. The narration is fine, but it didn’t seem to enhance the story and I didn’t particularly enjoy it. I switched from listening to the audio to reading on Kindle so I could skim the second half of the book to find out what happened.

Beautiful love story narrated by great narrators

My first book by Nicole Snow and it is a beautiful love story narrated by two amazing voice actors.
They bring the characters to live with the wright emotions beautifully narrated
J P Mordrake has this unique deep hoarse sexy voice and the sweet innocent voice of Chelsea Hatfield along with the interesting story line- it is one of those books I couldn't put down.
i will look for more of Nicole Snow and totally recommend to listen to

Knight

The main story was good.
The narration a little drab.
Male was almost sarcastic sounding.
