Description

Adrian Mole is 34 and three quarters, almost officially middle-aged, when Mr. Blair tells Parliament that Weapons of Mass Destruction can be deployed in 45 minutes and can reach Cyprus. Adrian is worried that he might not get a refund on his holiday. But that's not all that is bothering him. There's his odd girlfriend Marigold who has become distressingly New Age. And his son Glenn who is in Deepcut Barracks. Would Mr. Blair have been quite so keen if it had been his son manning a roadblock?

"Oh how we laughed!"

I've been reading the Adrian Mole books since I found them in my pre-teens. They never fail to make me laugh, improve a bad mood, or give me comfort — reading about his frequent problems always eases my own.

I was selfishly disappointed when Townsend died (RIP) and greatly hoped she had managed to get a few books ahead, but unfortunately not.

Adrian's age mirrored mine almost exactly and I'd hoped to follow him — and the rest of the fantastic characters in his orbit — into his later years and beyond.

Did he and Pandora end up together? Does he ever get published? How do his kids make out? Ditto his siblings and parents? What happens after the Carlton-Hayes Bookshop closes?

Did this "misunderstood intellectual" ever feel fully appreciated? Oh I could go on! Give the series a try; you'll be hooked from page one. That's a promise! 💗

Brilliant!

I totally enjoyed this book - and can recommend to any Adrian Mole fan and if you haven’t come across Adrian Mole yet, I would suggest starting with the earlier books. This book is witty and entertaining in true Sue Townsend style, made even more enjoyable by Paul Daintry’s absolutely excellent narration.
