Description

Kaiden Jericho's life just went sideways.

He has been working odd jobs since the first school year ended.

(People have to eat, right?)

The problem? He isn't as prepared as he thinks he is.

Out in the jungles of the Amazon, Kaiden meets a new set of nightmares, and death there is permanent.

Even with all his previous training in the Animus, will Kaiden survive?

You don't become the best of the best by staying alive. In the Animus, you are closer to perfection with each death you suffer.

Kaiden Jericho would rather skip the death part, thank you very much.

Includes special note from co-author Michael Anderle.

good but too short!

the series really gets my blood pumping but I dont like this trend in the series where the listen time keeps getting shorter. at only 6 hours it feels expensive to waist a credit on it but the story was as good as ever.

Well written but oh so short.

It's... ok, but way to short, and ends in an odd way. Even starts in an odd way, doing one of those, "start the story in the middle, then flashback to show us what we missed" things. However, it only does it once, making it feel disjointed as I kept expecting it to flashback every time he lost consciousness. Why even do it at all if you only planned to do it once?

Aside from that, every other book has ended in a satisfying way, typically with him beating a midterm test or something. This one ends a week before a vauge test with him dealing with PTSD and fighting Werewolves to build his flagging confidence. If you were going to bring PTSD into this it feels a bit dismissive to have it come off as resolved so fast.

Again I have to point out how short this is, shortest book in the series so far if I'm not mistaken. Most of it was focused on Jericho, a few disposable fodder, and a Bounty hunter akin to Boba Fet in reputation. All the other side characters are relogated to little more than a cheering squad.

Also, PLEASE don't add some half baked romance with Chio. It's perfectly fine to be opposite genders, and still be friends. It would be refreshing infact.

The only real redeeming feature of this book is the Villan. He was interesting, and fun. Though he could have killed everyone easily If he'd stop messing around. Feels a bit lackluster in that regard. As if the only reason he didn't was for the sake of the plot.

The narration is as good as always to.

Not my favorite

This book was very short and is our first take of our hero away from the academy. The motives are unclear why he’s going and it’s not a very well thought out story. Chief doesn’t play a very prominent role which is a bit weird. Many of the familiar characters never make an appearance. The book felt rushed and could be portrayed as a money grab.

A small dip in the series, but worth it.

Not as strong of a story as the preceding books and a good bit shorter, but the new characters are amazing (Gin being the first truly evil character I've enjoyed reading/hearing about in a long, long time) and its interesting to delve more into the minds and histories of some of the supporting staff.

this was the third book I really enjoyed it but it needed more background. I thought this one was kind of rushed. hopefully when the next one comes out it'll all fit together. good job overall though

Book 4 and has not stop the excitement

This is book 4 of a great series. The four is just as great as the other three. Gun fights, space ,monsters, school and classes the only thing change is a few words a 8 or 10 years does not need to know.

Sadly disappointing

I can only hope this is not a glimpse of what is to come. I loved the first 3 books and was excited to see the fourth had come out but was sorely disappointed upon completion. The image this book leaves me with is one of an author who is eager to pick up pennies instead leaving a lasting impression. I would have rather waited for a complete book instead of a short story that didnt leave me wanting more. Consider this review harsh but it was an utter fail not entertaining and not at all in line with the rest of the series.
