À propos de cet audio

The bestselling biography of Britain's 'Queen of Crime' by acclaimed historian Lucy Worsley OBE

'Every Christie fan should read this' - THE TIMES

To Lucy Worsley, Agatha Christie was 'thrillingly, scintillatingly modern'. She went surfing in Hawaii, she loved fast cars, and she was intrigued by the new science of psychology, which helped her through devastating mental illness. Born in 1890, Christie defied societal expectations the whole of her life.

With access to personal letters and papers that have rarely been seen, Lucy Worsley's bestselling biography is both authoritative and entertaining and makes us realise what an extraordinary pioneer Agatha Christie was - truly a woman who wrote the twentieth century.

Really enjoyable listen

Excellent biography, excellent research . . . volume consistency issues made it frustrating for me to listen to, though. (Many sentences taper off so softly! Not really a problem with ear budd but noticable with a regular speaker . . .

Interesting Biography: Sound editing poor

Lucy Worsley is one of the greatest tv presenters today and has captured me and taught me so much about British history, so to have her telling me about one of my favourite authors is a match made by the gods. Worsley brings her charm and story telling prowess to this fascinating life of a legendary writer while being nuanced about the more difficult aspects of examining a time gone by. Top notch, SO glad to have the author narrate such great work.

A crossover made in heaven

Captivating throughout

Christie is that uncommon writer of fiction whose own life was just as or even more fascinating than her books. Her carefully constructed stereotypical facade hid an amazing and unconventional reality. Lucy Worsley tells us the story of Christie's real adventures in her usual clear and engaging prose. And how charming to listen to Worsley herself - a talented narrator. Enjoy!
