Description
Agatha Raisin's neighboring village of Ancombe is usually the epitome of quiet rural charm, but the arrival of a new mineral-water company - which intends to tap into the village spring - sends tempers flaring and divides the parish council into two stubborn camps. When Agatha, who happens to be the PR person for the water company, finds the council chairman murdered at the spring, tongues start wagging. Main Character of the Mean Girls Variety
Agatha Raisin is a middle aged, retired PR expert who tends towards petulance, aggression, and superficiality. She bumbles into murder and believes she is better suited to solving the crime than are the police. As a result, she pursues an investigation putting herself and others into danger along the way. Agatha can be extremely abrasive as she pursues her enquiries.
She excuses her abrasive behaviour to herself by remembering her difficult childhood growing up with alcoholic parents in the Birmingham slums.
Whether it is in a work or social setting, she is unable to grasp 9the social cues that turn other people off her. To compensate for her feelings of rejection, she doubles down on the very traits that turn others off in the first place. In the process, though, she stumbles onto clues that lead to her exposing the culprits.
Despite Agatha’s harsh personality, and her obsession with her next door neighbour James Lacey, the stories are captivating. And addictive.

Not her best
A lot of time spent on investigations that went nowhere only to wrap it up with previously unknown stuff in the last chapter
The characters are as well developed and interesting as always. She is a real hoot as are her close comrades which is why the story itself was so disappointing.

Another great one
I love Penelope Keith as Agatha Raisin. Im getting a bit tired of Agatha's obsession with James. Thou it does provide a nice side note to the story and keeps us wondering if she is going to get him, get over him, or are they finally going to come to an end, all while they snoop around another murder.
I love that Agatha is fearless, and I darling victors wife, shes so cute.
