Often in the book it jumps periods of time without telling you, so if you tune out for a few seconds you’ll spend the next few minutes trying to understand the conversation before realizing it’s jumped forward in time

Great reader, good story, confusing pacing

I am so used to full novels from Marie Benedict and was excited to settle into a new one. I didn't notice how short it was and feel I wasted a credit on this book. the story was good, bit I am left waiting more. I really enjoy the author's exploration and exposition of women in history and all of her other books. a good story, just note it is pretty brief.

I couldn’t stop listening to this book. It was well narrated and the story got me hooked. I’m hoping for more by this author. Take advantage of this free book this month! You won’t regret it.

I listened to this on night shifts so I occasionally had a hard time with it but it's a good story about one of many spies that worked towards things they believed in. overall a good book.

I think what really completed the book was the author's note at the end, which gave you a much further appreciation for the story, based on true events.

I'm likely being too harsh because I found it very repetitive. The majority of the story was a constant exact repeat of: 1) Sneaking away to deliver information 2) Mr. Townsend complimenting her but saying he doesn't like the risk she took to get the information 3) Elizabeth reassuring him. Immediate repeat.

I understand that this is likely an accurate portrayal of the action events. But I found it lacking in the tale itself. There was no getting lost in the story.

That being said, I still very much enjoyed it and recommend it, especially to anyone interested in the power of unnoticed women as well as American history.

This is a budget version of a Jane Austen novel, replete with stilted dialogue, predictable plot points, and tired clichés. A pity, really, since the author’s basic premise is laudable: highlighting an overlooked female hero of the American Revolution. Only, tale is so sappy and overwrought, it doesn’t do this intriguing historical figure justice.
At least the book was short. And free.
