Before The Crying of Ross 128, there was this short story....
John Sarangan wanted nothing more than to be left alone. He despised all humans, all the terran noise. So when the opportunity arose for him to work by himself at the Moonbase running geophysical surveys, he jumped at the opportunity.
But one day as he ran seismic surveys at the edge of the dark and light sides of Luna, he detected an anomaly unlike any naturally occurring event he'd ever seen. This dome-like structure, buried in the dust and rock, was too perfect to be natural. Which could mean only one thing: Some other intelligent life had already been there.
