By summer 2008, James Tripp had been working professionally with hypnosis for 6 years. Whilst he had used what he had learned to great effect with his clients (from manual therapy to coaching and changework), it had become increasingly clear that something was amiss with the traditional trance model—instead of his clients responding to suggestion as a result of entering 'trance', they were apparently entering 'trance' as a result of being given suggestions. The cart seemed very much before the horse.

Histoire24
Milton H. Erickson has been called the most influential hypnotherapist of our time. Part of his therapy was his use of teaching tales, which through shock, surprise, or confusion - with genius use of questions, puns, and playful humor - helped people to see their situations in a new way. In this audiobook Sidney Rosen has collected over 100 of the tales. Presented verbatim and accompanied by Dr. Rosen's commentary, they are grouped under such headings as Motivating Tales, Reframing, and Capturing the Innocent Eye.

Good, but not my cup of tea
- Écrit par Petra Legatova le 2025-02-21
Auteur(s): Paul McKenna
Sadly, hypnotherapy suffers from a tragic lack of legitimacy among many people, who link it to mind control, manipulation, and hocus pocus. Even among those better informed, there are difficulties. Hypnotic techniques work in subterranean ways that remain challenging to understand and difficult to credit, even when they very clearly work. Even old hands are regularly astonished at its effectiveness, and there’s a lot we still don’t know.
What’s increasingly beyond doubt is that hypnosis is incredibly effective and efficient in relieving pain and helping us create decisive shifts of many kinds. We need books just like this one - accessible, simple to follow, and enjoyable to use.
For skeptics, the issue of manipulation is moot here, because with self-hypnosis we become the source of our own "strategic self-deception." The book does a good job of helping the analytic part of us understand, and there's a healthy sprinkling of experiential evidence delivered via its interactive format. For example, early on we see how simply ‘allowing in’ an idea as potentially true can alter our state (nervous system, emotions, physical comfort) and our behaviour. The evidence builds in part through our recognition of the changes we see in ourselves as we practice. And the committed reader WILL see changes. Quickly.
As a bonus, Anthony's voice is lovely to listen to. The perspectives he offers are fresh and convincing. Nothing here is overstated and much is quotable. The author hopes to reposition hypnosis to its rightful place. That place, he argues, is alongside meditation, mindfulness, chanting, dance, prayer, song and storytelling --among the many methods of comfort and empowerment that have been valued parts of human cultural practice for millenia. That is exactly right, in my opinion. Well done!!
A Wonderful Book
