What's with the weird pauses every few words?

I made it through the introduction, but I really can't deal with pauses every few words. Even weird pauses in single words, such as when he says twenty............. one.

Maybe it's a good read, but it's a pretty annoying audiobook.

Do they refund audiobook credits if we don't make it through the first 5 minutes?
