Description

A life-altering car accident, an act of unforgettable violence....

One woman’s courageous story.

Tricia Barker was a depressed, agnostic college student at The University of Texas in Austin...until a profound near-death experience (NDE) during surgery revolutionizes her entire world. As she learns to walk again, Tricia lets go of painful wounds from childhood and integrates some of the aftereffects of her spiritual journey into her daily life. She returns to college with renewed vigor, intending to embark on a new path by becoming an English teacher.

But after a year of teaching in the US, Tricia travels to South Korea, where she is the victim of a sexual assault. Now, she must use the wisdom she gained on the Other Side to heal herself, and later, guide countless junior high, high school, and college students to greater peace. Through teaching and mentoring others - many of whom are struggling with traumas of their own - Tricia decides to devote her life to bringing the “light” she experienced during her NDE to individuals who are seeking solace, inspiration, and overall well-being.

Great Book

I seen a Interview where Tricia shares her NDE and felt compelled to find out more, I came across this book and felt driven to read it so I bought it and am very glad I did.

There's some explicit language in it but still enjoyed the book very much.

When looking at reviews, I seen quite a few negative comments about the narrator but for me I didn't mind the narrators voice at all (I listento everythingat 1.25 speed).

Excellent

A very well-written raw account of her life story thus far. What impressed me the most was her honesty about her thoughts, emotions, and actions - there was no glossing over these very human traits, both 'good' and 'bad'. I found myself tearing up, crying, laughing, excitedly cheering her on, feeling great joy in her achievements and wanting to high-five her when she (in an 'unclassy' way) spoke up to a coworker for a rape victim. She lays it out very clearly just how fucked up victim blaming is. She was also able to clearly articulate all the ways that dysfunctional families and judgemental, narrow-minded 'Christians' affect those unfortunate enough to be born into/exposed to them. But also, how we can deal with them both internally and externally. I also loved hearing her accounts of working with various students, and again, felt great joy in seeing their lives affected and changed by love. The whole book led me to feel uplifted and hopeful about living in this world, wanting to continue the work of unlearning all the lies and conditioning I was raised to believe, and excited to go out and just let God's love shine through. I've already recommended this book to others as I know they too will feel inspired!!
