This book was very different from so many. I absolutely enjoyed it.
Captivating story line and thrilling suspenseful plot that had you compelled to listen. Great narration in all voices. We all take life for granted but they are women who have no choice. Very compelling story.
Had you glued to hear more and hooked on listening.
Beautifully written and beautifully narrated.

Clinical Psychologist L.K. Chapman must have plumbed the depths of her experience with psychopathology to come up with the horrifying relationships described in two timelines in this tale. The book drips with hyperrealistic intimate partner violence, twists the concept of "love" beyond recognition, graphically describes no fewer than two "no-no-no-God-please-no" rapes, and feels so authentic (except for at the climax) that I was frequently physically nauseated. For the most part, the book is well-written albeit over-the-top intense. You just need to ignore the last few chapters.
Unfortunately, you can't. Chapman destroys the book with one of the dumbest endings that I have ever read.

Fortuitously for audiobook aficionados: Reader Anna Parker-Naples is straight-up brilliant. There's nothing particularly outstanding in terms of diction, timbre, cadence, and voice-acting.. but her emotive tone is absolutely pitch-perfect. Her ability to not burst out laughing at the nonsense she is paid to read and keep delivering the utmost seriousness is incredible. Her performance makes this audiobook more viscerally affecting than it deserves.

Altogether, 'Anything For Him' rates 4/10-stars. To be honest, the plotting is aimed more at provoking shock than thought. Still, despite some headshaking elements, I quite enjoyed it as a 'Plus' selection.. but can't recommend the book should they ask for a Credit. Persistent discomfort + ludicrous ending = pass
