I almost shut it off... but I really wanted to see how it ended. I loved the first book and liked the second. This book was a disappointment compared to the first 2

Did not enjoy this. Pippa was annoying and whiny. Disappointing ending. Story was so far fathered and out of character that it was just not enjoyable. I loved the other 2 books.

This is one of the best series I've ever read. For one, it's excellently written - the plot development alone is enough to make it extraordinary. But the character development and prose are also incredible. The overall book is so captivating, not to mention novel and propulsive. This is also one of the only true-crime-thriller-dectective style books that actually brings light to the inherent failure/harm of the carceral system and makes it a part of the story and in a smart way. I also loved the main narrator - thought she was basic in book one, but MAN did she grow into it. Honestly, I'm impressed and obsessed with this series and author. My only kinda complaint is that the genre of the series shifts, especially in this book. It starts in "One of Us is Lying" territory and ends in Katherine Slaughter territory, which is a lot darker. I gotta be in a mood for that vibe, so I didn't like the shift entirely, but I was so invested in this amazing series that it was ultimately ok.

The Pip we meet in book 3 is not the Pip of book 1. The glow, shiny and new are gone. Every situation gets progressively harder, and you just want Pip to get out of her own way.
Every twist involved more and more twists beyond that. When you felt there was finally some resolution, there was another twist to knock you off the course.
If you read/listened to book 2, you must listen to book 3. But if you've only listened to book 1, that's a good place to stop too.

All in all a great series, really couldn’t stop listening. There were a lot of parts in this third one that were so very irritating with irrational decisions but quite enjoyable none the less.

These series are so good! The narrator has done a wonderful job playing Pip. I’m a crime junkie (newly in my 40’s) and at first I was a bit hesitant to listen because the main characters are so young.. but that didn’t get in the way! I loved these series!!
