Disappointing.

I loved book one of this and was excited to see where the author would take it, but I have to admit that I was disappointed with this!

This one starts slow, the gets good, then fizzles out at the end! There were a lot of things I found to be unbelievable and in my opinion, quite silly! It's hard to talk about some of the things because they are major spoilers, but I'll do my best with the non spoilery parts.

Anna and Sam are coming to terms with her mothers death, and the end of life as they knew it, but their life isn't too bad. Her grandfather seems to have everything and she's not wanting for anything. They have a fence around his place, and bars on the windows. In fact, the whole town where they live seems to be doing good. There is a bit of unrest when the town is told to hand over all their weapons, but that fizzled out way too quickly.

Annas' grandfather is a piece of work!! What he tries to do to Sam was.... I don't know, I was shaking my head because I didn't think the character he asked would have done it and Sam wouldn't have been so naive when the shot came near him. I think he would have put two and two together! But again, that little story line fizzled out and never got a resolution either.

Possible spoilers!!!! Another part of the plot that annoyed me and seemed unbelievable was when Sam was sent on a certain task. A certain character comes to their town and tells them he is responsible for everything! He is the hacker, and he knows that the group responsible for making him commit the act is about to undertake something even worse..... Why would he turn up in a small town and blab his sins!! Why would they not inform the authorities and get qualified men to save the world!! Instead Sam and a few others go.

To me, the whole plot felt rushed. The ending definitely felt the most rushed and I did not like it at all!!!! I wanted to give up a few times but I also wanted to see what happened because I did like the characters!!

In all, I really think this should have been one decent sized book, instead of two. I feel like the story could have been great, but instead it just felt rushed and suffered because of it. 2.5 stars!!

Kevin Pierce is the voice of Post Apocalyptic books. He has read so many of them!! He is clear and easy to follow and has plenty of tones and voices for the characters.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

Not worth it. Bad value.

The two books could have been merged together as one that would have been 11 hours which would have been a good value. Nit worth the two credits.

What A Entertaining Thriller Of a Book Series.

This Book Series Is Such A Good Edge Of Your Seat Thrill Ride!!! I Could Do Again Without The Horrible Language. I Feel Like Every Time I Review A Book I Have To Explain That I Could Really Go Without All The Massive Curse Words. It's Disgusting Of The Only Downside To This Book Please If You Have Children Please Don't Allow Them To Overhear This Audiobook It Has Such Foul Language. As a Christian Believer In Jesus Christ I Really Urge You To Use Caution For The Foul Language Is Horrendously Nasty. I Don't Know why There Needs To Be Such High Demand For Such Foul Language In This Entire Book Series. I'm Not Judging I'm Just Saying It's Really Bad. they also treat women horribly in this series. They Need To Have More Respect For The Women In This Book & All Other Book Series They Might Be Creating In The Future. We All Should Be Treating Women With Respect Not Treating Them Horribly As They Do In This Book Series. If I Ever Heard Somebody Talking About Or To Women Like They Do In This Book That Would Be a Very Big Issue For Me. I Give The Overall & Story Ratings Three Stars For Each. the narrator Kevin Pierce is phenomenal I give him 5 stars. Kevin Pierce Is One Of Or Is Thee Best Narrators Of All Time.

just enough

unrealistic motivation.
several of the storylines usher character through motions absent believable impetus for their actions: Hackers vengefully want to launch nuclear missiles in response for serving a few years in prison.
A father believing his daughter is too good for her husband decides to plan his son in laws murder.

great 2nd book

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I thought this was a good continuation from book 1. It seemed to pick up right where the first book leaves off. That being said, if you haven't listened to/read the first book, you won't know what is going on. You could definitely put these two together and it would be a seamless story. The narration is fantastic, as usual, from Kevin Pierce. I would definitely recommend this series to any fans of apocalyptic genres.

Another slam dunk by Jack Hunt

I admit it. I am a Jack Hunt fan. Heck I maybe the unofficial club president. I have kindle unlimited as well and read the book before I heard this new addition to the serial series. I really enjoyed it with the always excellent Kevin Pierce doing the narration. The audible version is better and worth the extra money. Kevin adds a lot of tension to the story

Since it’s book 2 I will do an overview with bits of book one to get a feel for it. There was an event that knocked out the power grid. Terrorism ? Solar flare? In such a situation rumors fly but how do you get the real news? There is no real news available due to the outage. Where do you get food when the trucks are not rolling? The things you have people get desperate and will go pay you a visit armed to the teeth What will you do?

This is a story of these types of situations Centered around a family with peripheral people they encounter. They live in a small town in Colorado and are just trying to survive. Sam does does not have any super Ninja skills. Just an average person trying to keep the family alive and now in book 2 his town safe and functional.

If you like real life ( well maybe LOL) situations with great characters that are relatable give it a listen; its fun and reminds me of the old movie theater serials that were just fun to watch. Plop in your easy chair by the fire and let old Kevin read you a story ..

I was given the book to review. If I like it I will say so if not I say why I did not like it this one is 4 out of 5 survival kits

As We Break - The story continues

The is the second book in the Against All Odds series. The book was a good read with the Story of Sam, Mason, Chase, Anna, and Amanda continuing. The story changes from a straight Post Apoc story to a cyber attack/ intrigue. It broadened the tale out a bit and I an not totally sure if the story benefited from the additional plot line or not.

I enjoyed being able to pick up where I left off from the first book and see the characters progress putting an end to the series.

Kevin Pierce did an amazing narration job!

While I was given this book in exchange for a review, I have reviewed the book honestly to the best of my ability. I would never recommend a book to someone else if I would not purchase it myself

Solid sequel

As we Break is the 2nd book in the Against All Odds series and for the most part it's another enjoyable book from Jack Hunt. I don't want to go into any major spoilers, but I have to say that I quite enjoyed how Mr. Hunt showed us just who and how the grid got taken down. I've read several reviews that say this is all too unbelievable and while the story is a bit wild, I personally tend to read/listen purely for entertainment value and if I can suspend belief enough to buy that a lone cop can take out an entire building of terrorists/thieves (Die Hard) then I can certain suspend belief enough to buy into and enjoy this story. I liked the characters (except for the ones I'm meant to hate, lol) and loved the action. If I have any complaint it's that the story picks up without any real recap or reintroduction of the characters so if it's been a long time since you read or listened to the first book you might not remember who everyone is. Not really a knock against Mr. Hunt as this is something I've noticed that a number of authors do. Definitely not a deal breaker for me, but I do wish that authors would include an optional recap chapter. That being said, it wasn't that long ago that I'd listened to the first book so I quickly remembered who everyone was. If you enjoy survival stories this series is definitely worth your time.

The book is narrated by Kevin Pierce who is one of my favorite narrators. I've said it before, but for me he is the voice of survival fiction and as always he does an excellent job.

I received a copy of this audio title in exchange for an unbiased review.
