Felix would like nothing more than to take a vacation. A long one. One where he didn’t have to wake up every morning and worry over casualty lists for the day. Ever since he and the Legion had been forced to flee their headquarters four years previous, nothing had gone quite right. In fact, Felix and the Legion have been locked in a shadow war with enemies unknown. Ones with magic that could carve through their technology easily.

Histoire
Ash led a very normal life by his own standards. Right up until he was literally pulled into a portal that spat him out into another world. One that was full of martial arts. And martial artists who could use magic. Three years of living his life as one of the citizens, those without power, and Ash has figured out how to survive with his adoptive family and a lot of persistence. His goals in life have become to give back to those who gave to him. And he’d do whatever he had to to do that. Except Ash is about to get his life turned around again.

Histoire
The necromantic armies are on the warpath and nowhere is safe. Even the presumed sanctuary of the floating dungeon controlled by Cal is threatened! The leadership of nearly all the sentient monarchies has been wiped out, and only the races most suited to repelling the advancing darkness have an intact chain of command. Cal learns quickly that the most pressing threat is not the far-off war, but is instead those entrusted with the general population's protection. As it turns out, the idea of having a flying dungeon for your people is very tempting indeed....

Erik and Rugrat are not immune to those feelings, but they have stepped into chaos so many times, it is simply a different challenge. Two weeks ago, Erik lost his legs and his arm. Today he got a message. "You have been randomly selected to join the Ten Realms. One may choose to ascend the Ten Realms, thereupon making a request to the Gods of the Realms. My name's Noah Kilmartin. I'm from Ruddock, Ohio, and I'm absolutely, 100 percent unqualified to save the universe from the slavering demonic hordes of the super evil queen Lilith. Too bad nobody asked my opinion. All I've got to do is pass five lethal trials that'll prove I'm the universe's last chance at salvation. To do so, I'll have to lean hard on those three years of Okinawan jiu-jutsu classes I took in high school, learn to wield my new magic sword, and, oh yeah - select five women to flesh out my team.

Histoire
In a near future where monsters and humans coexist, Hieronymus "Jer" Bennington isn’t your run-of-the-mill psychiatrist. Despite losing his parents to a monster attack, Jer doesn’t judge people by the clothes they wear or the horns on their head. Instead, he runs a controversial clinic where he offers therapy to beastniks, but when his best friend’s suspicious death implicates him for murder, he hunts for the truth in a sexy-dangerous underworld filled with mythical creatures.
Description
After years of slavery, subjected to torments of body and spirit by the inhuman Kin, Travis Sterling can barely recall his old life. Memories of Earth, and of disappointing his family barely seem real anymore.
But even without the occasional voice in his head, Trav knows he’s different. A vast amount of rune crafting knowledge has mysteriously taken up residence in his mind; too bad he doesn’t have any mystical power. If he could find a way to actually use any rune magic, his situation could change.
The stubborn, unbroken man burns for justice, but despite his strange abilities, he stands no chance against the Kin. In the near future, when Trav comes face to face with complete destruction, his mettle and creativity will be tested. Will he perish, or will he grasp a chance to shake the foundations of his new world?
A VeilVerse Story.
Note: This series was written for adults. Asgard Awakening contains morally grey situations, polyamory, fantasy violence, and slavery. Please do not attempt dangerous rune magic at home.

I’m being nit picky I think
I just wanna say I really like Blaise Corvin’s and Andrea Parsneau’s works generally. This one though didn’t really seem to hit home for me. Trav as a character is pretty unlikable but it seemed like he was suppose to be charming/likeable and kind of a dick. The narration for him just kind makes him seem super aggressive which he is kind of angry character so I could see that being difficult to narrate combining/dealing with all that crap. I also didn’t really like most the female voices but they are monsters so I think that’s mostly a personal presence issue for me maybe.
The story is certainly interesting but I think it mentions Trav’s anger issues and etc a lot. I found myself getting annoyed with how often his anger issues and a quick back story of it brought up every time with it as to why it exists when he made decisions. I like the concept of restless and many other things in the book but yeah just some funny quirks that irked me. Giving the 5 star as I think a lot issues are mostly things I personably have with it and the book itself is pretty solid and narration is really good but feels worse than Cultivating Chaos. Could be cause CC is all humans though.
Worth a listen just nitpicks mostly I had mention.

Another good series to listen to
Since 2 of my favorite authors decided to write parallel in the same universe I've been very excited. And now that I've listened to their first books I'm not disappointed! The world is interesting, the characters have depth and the story is a page turner (or the audio equivalent). The narration is also a piece of art. My advice: Give it a try. The other author is William D. Arand with 'Cultivating Chaos'. I hope this becomes a long series of good books :D

An excellent Ride!
Another great start to a fine series I’m sure. I find the characters interesting and complex and can’t wait to see them mature. The plot is a very interesting question of power and sensibility.
Andrea Parsneau has done another masterful job in the narration, and has brought all of the characters to life.
I will be waiting for the next books in the VeilVerse series they have both been excellent. I love your work Blaise Corvin!

Seeingthe world through one eye
So, I’m going to break this down a little differently, because I will be reviewing Cultivating Chaos right after this, so I’m going to bunch up Andrea’s narration onto the second book, for reasons.
So, first of all, Kudos to Corvin and Arand for having the balls to try and pull something like this off. WE now have a LITRPG Thieves World type of Universe, where they can invite any other authors in to play in their sandbox. I could easily see (just to name a few) Dakota Krout, James Hunter, Dave Willmarth, MSE or even Harmon Cooper getting in to this playground. Or none of them. This is just to exciting an idea. The veilverse is about various worlds that are interconnected by dimensional shifting curtains wear reality wears thin. People can crossover through these curtains and interact with new worlds. Here the main characters in both books come from Earth, although Corvin’s character is sent to Asgard.
While there he is given the mantle of Odin, and slowly grows into his role as a new god. Trav is a good guy who has some horrible things done to him as a slave in an underground mine. When the time comes he makes an escape and sets about growing his power by binding women to him as he goes along. He learns to settle into his new abilities such as runecrafting and knowing things that Odin knew. The book started out looking like it was going to be a straight up revenge book, but it quickly evolved into something so much more. I have to say, I have been patiently waiting on my Delvers, but so long as books like this keep coming I won’t complain. . . much. Still waiting on the Luck Stat part duex.
Corvin certainly crafts a great story and populates his world with interesting powers, people, and prices. I don’t think that anything that Trav does doesn’t come without a cost to him in one way or another. One thing that sort of struck me odd was that Blaise does try out the Harem gig at last, and I’m not sure if he went that route because of who he partnered with or if he just wanted to give it a try. Again, not a bad thing, just not something I expected out of Blaise. I daresay that he even went further than Arand did in the naughty dept.
The world that he builds with the Kin, the Asgardian, the other new gods all comes together is cohesive universe that just sucks you in. My only possible complaint is that this book is shorter than Cultivating Chaos. I would have liked to have seen them be about the same length for a starter series, but I am not complaining because the quality is there and the characters are compelling. I cannot say I like one MC over another, but that I simply cannot wait for the next book in this series.
Andrea’s part will come up in the Cultivating Chaos segment.
Final Score 8.4 stars. Smooth like lagavulin whiskey.
Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. Getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.
If this review helped, please press the YES below. Thank you immensely!!!

A Fun Delve into a Norse Universe
I was initially skeptical of this book because of the plethora of Norse stores that are popular now. I was pleasantly surprised with The VeilVerse stories. They take only enough to build believeable worlds with intriguing character development and build in whole new directions.
You don’t need to read any other VeilVerse book to get this story, but you can read about another concurrent story line featuring Ash in Cultivating Chaos.

Better than Delvers
In a lot of ways, it’s an unfair comparison to make, as every author improves over time, but this story really flowed much better IMO.
I’d have personally enjoyed more system stuff, but I realize that would hamper the flow for those who don’t care that much for it.

Non character players
While the voice acting and performance in this is wonderful, and the beginning set up is well done; the lack of real character development kills this story. I got about to the last hour of it and I just did not care about what happens because I did not care about most of the characters. One character, who is dead and we never meet, has been more characterized than some main characters we are reading about!
The author has tried and failed to explain this lack away with the protagonists circumstances and prejudices, but hes also using the same excuses to explain-away some major plot issues.... pick one, or neither, not both.

harem heavy
I almost gave up on this book. too much filler for a short book. falls far into the shadow of the first book but makes the overall story come together.
