We tend to think of meditation as a formal practice we block time out for each day. But what if every moment of your life was your meditation? For Eckhart Tolle, meditation shouldn't be approached as a chore or a means to an end. Rather, meditation is something that you live. "The aim of meditation," states Eckhart, "is that it eventually becomes your normal state of consciousness." Essential Meditations with Eckhart Tolle points the way toward this quiet, constant state of Presence - where practice gives way to the realization of your innermost identity.

When challenges arise in your life, what happens inside of you? For many of us, the larger the problem, the more we resist, contract, and react unconsciously. On the other hand, explains Eckhart Tolle, in any given moment we have the chance to remain open to life, align with what is, and experience the natural sense of peace and aliveness that he calls "the joy of being".

To be human is to suffer - and yet, according to Eckhart Tolle, all of these painful moments contain an opportunity for awakening. In Transforming Suffering into Peace, this celebrated teacher offers a new perspective on the ego and what he terms "the pain-body" - all the accumulated emotional wounds that follow us through life. Though the pain-body can easily rise up and hijack our consciousness with unpleasant emotions, in this program Eckhart reveals a hopeful truth - by turning the light of awareness on our suffering, that suffering becomes a powerful gateway to Presence.

The theme of this four-day retreat: "It's Always Now" The Now is inseparable from who you are at the deepest level. It is the prerequisite of Being. As you listen to the words on this tape, you participate in the retreat. To "retreat" means to step back - not only from the outer world, but also from the world in your head, the thinking mind. Allow the sound of the words to take you beyond words and beyond sound to the stillness within.

Histoire
In Eckhart Tolle on Great Western Classics, Eckhart shares from his personal bookshelf five works he holds dear to his heart and continues to turn to for guidance and inspiration.
Description
If you go about your day trapped in the realm of thinking, it's difficult, if not impossible, to free yourself from stress and anxiety - and the interpersonal suffering that goes along with it. But if you're rooted in the now, explains Eckhart Tolle, you're already standing in a place of deep fulfillment. At the Source of Being brings you a five-part intensive retreat with Eckhart Tolle, presenting more than seven hours of in-depth guidance in the central aspects of his simple yet life-changing teaching.
Recorded amid the natural beauty of an Australian rainforest, Eckhart discusses a range of topics including:
- How our obstacles can become an opening for spiritual growth
- Attending to the all-pervasive aliveness that surrounds us
- The realization of our "formless" identity
- The only question that matters: Am I present at this moment?
- The meaning of "saying yes to what is" - and the art of stating a "high-quality no"
- Being the space in which things happen
- That which cannot be threatened
- Stillness and true relationship
- Meeting situations with intense consciousness instead of reactivity
- Eckhart's personal "self-destruction" story
- How presence transforms our experience of uncertainty
- Eroding old habits through the practice of detachment
- Pre-egoic thinking and the archetype of the fool
"The only true cause of upset is losing yourself in the world or in your mind," teaches Eckhart. "Mastery arrives when there is total attention to being without a secondary motive." At the Source of Being is rich with insights and inspiration for integrating your "presence practice" into every aspect of daily life. Includes a helpful question-and-answer session with retreat participants.

don't be put off by the sound
One of his most powerful talks. It can help you experience and sustain presence. Don't let reviews about a lower sound quality prevent you from enjoying that beautiful experience. If you use good quality earphones, it will not be an issue at all. The background noise that you hear in the audible sample is actually just the rain, because it is recorded outdoor. The rain only happened a few times in the recording. And it didn't last for long when it rained

Inaudible recording
What disappointed you about At the Source of Being?
What Tolle has to say might be very worthwhile (it probably is), but the recording is so bad one can't tell. I really expect Audible to do a better job moderating their content.

Eckhart's words are filled with Loving truth. This is a series of lectures from his retreats. It's wonderful to be able to listen if your not able to attend. The sound quality is not very well at all, but to me it was worth dealing with to hear what he has to say. Beautiful reminders of Presence.
