Deadwood might have been torn down and forgotten, except that it also holds the distinction of being the town where an angry assailant killed Wild Bill Hickok while he was on his honeymoon. Wild Bill was shot in the back while he was holding a hand of cards that became known as a Dead Man's Hand.
