They escape an attack by zombified Clint Barton to try to reach a former S.H.I.E.L.D. base and decode the device. But on the journey Kate is killed in a battle between the undead Captain Marvel and the malfunctioning Eternal, Ikarus. Riri sends Kamala ahead to save the world and F.R.I.D.A.Y. stays behind to save her new boss. Wearily continuing through the night Kamala gets help from the new fist of Khonshu, Blade Night, who brings her to the S.H.I.E.L.D. site where they encounter the widows led by Melina Vostokoff, Alexei Shostakov, and Yelena Belova. After an attack by Wanda Maximoff, The Queen of the Dead, Melina sacrifices herself to allow the new team to get away and find a ship to save the world.
