À propos de cet audio

This is the tale of Urmila, a quiet heroine whose immense sacrifice sustained another's destiny.

The night before Prince Rama's 14-year exile, his devoted brother Lakshmana chose to accompany him. Urmila, despite her deep love and sorrow, supported his choice, declaring, "Your Dharma is my Dharma".

However, her sacrifice extended far beyond acceptance. To stand sleepless and vigilant as Rama and Sita's guard for 14 years, Lakshmana requested the Goddess of Sleep, Nidra Devi, to take away his need for sleep. The Goddess agreed on the condition that this immense debt of sleep be borne by someone else.

For the entire 14 years, Urmila remained in the palace, taking on Lakshmana's burden and staying awake. Her life became a constant, unbroken thread of prayer and meditation, and it is said she even dreamed the dreams he was unable to have. Urmila's silent, unseen wakefulness was the foundation upon which Lakshmana's great service was built.

Her story teaches that the greatest courage is often found in quiet stillness, and that the deepest love is expressed through silent, unwavering sacrifice.
