À propos de cet audio

Somewhere in the backwoods of northwestern Rhode Island lies a secret. During the Revolutionary War, General Washington’s spies were everywhere, passing information about Redcoat troop movements, relaying military orders among the colonies’ militia, gathering and stockpiling caches of resources necessary to the war effort. Yet, many of these “spies” were farmers functioning barely above subsistence levels. What patriotism they felt sometimes had to take a back seat to feeding and sheltering their families. Nathaniel Tillinghast was one such farmer. He stood out for his ingenuity and creativity. Battling to save the colonies from England, his exploits, known only to himself and a few others, helped turn the tide in the colonialists’ favor. Unheralded in his own time, heroism has a way of finding the light, though in this case it took centuries.

Drew Tillinghast McIntyre was his many times great granddaughter. In 2018, the 15-year-old moved from Manhattan to this rural corner of Rhode Island. Upset by her parents’ divorce, confused about life, Drew struggles to overcome her own demons and to fit into a place that seemed a million miles away from Manhattan. Starting from anger, resentment and confusion, she gradually finds her place, and in the bargain, ends up unlocking a Revolutionary War mystery that was only rumor for more than two hundred years.

Follow Drew and her friends, Andy and Annie, as against all odds, they turn an ancient story into real history.
