This is a tribute I shared at my dad’s funeral — a reflection on the choices that shaped his life, our family, and generations after him.

I heard a saying recently that perfectly captures my dad’s story:

“When you’re born you look like your parents. When you die you look like your choices.”

This message isn’t about presenting my dad as a saint. He wouldn’t have wanted that. It’s about the real choices he made — to love his family, to work hard, to live simply, to give generously, to serve the church, and ultimately, to put his faith in Jesus Christ.

In his final days, his faith became tender, humble, and full of peace. And in the days following his passing, we were overwhelmed by messages from people whose lives were quietly shaped by his kindness, wisdom, and faith.

This tribute is shared in the hope that it encourages you to reflect on the legacy you’re building — and the choices you’re making today.
