This is an enemies to lovers book.
She bubbly and always talking, he’s a man if few words and grumpy.

He’s never been touched by a female & she’s been touched many times without her consent by both human & aliens.

She try’s everything she can to refuse the mating call between them.

I really enjoy the story end it ends well, kinda leading into the next book.

oh this one is emotional and adorable this is a well-done piece I really enjoyed it and I like the fight I like the way that she explores a different form of coping with severe abuse and how well she presents the protectiveness of the males in a non-damaging kind of way these are just wonderful tales I love this series I would definitely highly recommend this book.

Haeden is a man of few words and Josie, of many. But they finally get on the same level. Great story with a few twists and turns that helps continue the series. I was going to stop after this one but now I can't.
Voice actors are great!

I love the series and the style and the narration (recommended to listen to 100%), BUT I just couldn’t get over the fact that they need to kill a creature to give themselves a life force. And in this specific book the girl (the worst) wants to do it twice for herself without a second thought. Sacrificing someone else’s life for her own “happiness” without even talking to her mate about what’s bothering her first did not sit well with me. Just made me dislike her right away

——— when I listened more, I understood this girl. These books are truly amazing!

We've been headed to Josie and Haeden's story for awhile now, and Barbarian’s Mate finally delivers their slow-burn, angsty romance. Josie is the last un-mated human and fiercely determined to choose her own path at all costs, while Haeden is her gruff, emotionally guarded fated mate. Neither is thrilled with the idea - true enemies to lovers. Their dynamic is tense, intimate, and more emotional than spicy compared to the earlier books I've read.

Ruby Dixon sneaks in some surprisingly deep themes under all the blue alien smut- consent, grief, autonomy, trauma, healing—it’s all there. Barbarian’s Mate is still that messy, emotional and spicy story that I am addicted to.

That said, Josie wasn’t my favorite FMC; her selfishness made it hard to root for her at times, even though the emotional payoff with Haeden eventually lands.

As always, the narration is a highlight and makes the story even more engaging. Messy, emotional, and still a little spicy—definitely worth the read.
