She is desperate for answers, but the slumbering, deeply superstitious hamlet is unwilling to give up its secrets.
As Grace hunts through forgotten corners of the cottage searching for clues and digs deeper into the lives of the locals, strange dreams begin to haunt her. Are the villagers hiding something, or is she becoming increasingly paranoid? Only as snowfall threatens to cut her and Millie off from the rest of the world does Grace make a terrible discovery. I was glued to every page
This book slowly crescendos
I ate up every page & was captivated that there were no voids, when you feel you are walking in the footsteps of each created character your not merely a reader you are drawn in you are the main character…

Great book!
Thought I’d take the time to write a full review as there isn’t one yet. Love the cadence and tone of the narrator (she read in Lost Apothecary as well and was fantastic). There was enough suspense/suspicion to keep my interested the entire time. Slow steady buildup with lots of character building. I totally felt like I was there at the cottage interacting with everyone. I would definitely listen to this one again.

Kept Me Listening
This was a nice book to listen to during the winter time, seeing as it takes place in the winter. It kept me wondering if it was a ghost story or not. I always listen to an audiobook to help me fall asleep and a lot of them I can’t get into, so they just turn into background noise. Beneath the Shadows kept me engaged.

Definitely 5 stars in every category !
This is one of the best stories I've ever listened to. The plot kept me guessing the entire time. And I absolutely loved the narration. The accents were spot-on. I caught myself sitting in my car a little longer listening to the ends of chapters. This is definitely one of the best narrated stories I've ever listened to, definitely one of the best plots . I will be finding more books written by this author and that are narrated by this narrator. Don't hesitate , just get this book! It's one of the best out there!
