À propos de cet audio

In this powerful and inspiring memoir, a Pakistani immigrant shares his story of finding new freedoms and a new faith in America.

It’s easy to talk about freedom. But unless someone has lived in a world that suffocates freedom, it’s difficult to appreciate the liberty found in America. This is the true story of a Pakistani Muslim who immigrates to the United States for college and discovers five transformational freedoms along the way: the freedom to fail and start over, to love, to choose one’s faith, to be an entrepreneur, and to self-govern.

Contrasting these precious freedoms with the life he lived in Pakistan, Ali’s story reveals that God is the true source of liberty as He works in people’s lives to bring about redemption. A call to value and preserve American freedoms, Beyond the Golden Door is also an invitation for readers to consider ultimate freedom in Jesus Christ.

This book is great if you’re up for a lesson about culture shock. The amount of privileges we have on the west side of the world is insane, and I had no clue the east side of the world experienced certain things.

Fascinating

This is a great memoir reflecting on a Pakistani Muslim's journey through the land of opportunity and ultimately finding God and joy through the challenges as an immigrant. Ali Master weaves an engaging narrative, reminiscing on the opportunities offered in America in the 80s and 90s. The author's journey from Islam to Christianity echoes other amazing stories such as "I Dared to Call Him Father" by Bilquis Sheikh and "Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus" by Nabeel Qureshi. I especially enjoyed how much the author consistently pointed to God's guiding Hand as being essential to his personal success and finding joy in hardship.

Insightful and engaging

The author's style of writing is a colorful woven tapestry, comparing and contrasting his experiences of freedom as a complete absence in his homeland and, then, as a total abundance in America. He proclaims that freedom is actually a responsibility, a precious privilege that Americans should protect and respect in order for it to not disappear.

Hear the Dream! Grand Story, Beautifully Performed

A journey I am privileged to have enjoyed reading and to have been taken along with the author on his many trials and accomplishments . We as persons who have possibly never experienced such a journey through personal trials and faith, should acknowledge how fortunate we are to be a citizen of a country that allows expression of personal freedom

A fantastic journey
