Beyond the Meal

Fasting as we know it can really intimidate any Christian. Did you know that fasting is not optional for the Christian? I mean, we all know that the entire Christian life is to become "more like Jesus, isn't it? So, if we are called to be more like Jesus in our purity, patients, kindness, meekness, self-control, prayer, evangelism, etc. What exempts any of us from being like Jesus in our fasting too?

So what about us? What about you? Why haven't we made one of our spiritual goals to fast like Jesus did? Could it be that the enemy of revival wants to blind us from its crucial significance?

We say we want revival in our churches, cities, and countries, but what are we willing to do to get it not in some distant future, but NOW? Most of today's church is hungry for more of God but fails to see that what is hindering them from personal and mass revival is their own personal appetites for the things of this world!
