Description
The last thing Lacy Green needs is trouble - and handsome Mayor Drake Randolph has "danger" written all over him...especially when "His Fineness" accidentally runs her off the road. Despite Drake's sensuous charm, irresistible magnetism, and unwavering determination to make amends, she's thinking it might be smart to play it safe and keep her distance...if only his lips weren't so inviting.
But trouble comes from a different source when Lacy, as the head of Detroit's Environmental Protection Department, launches an investigation into the activities of a ruthless developer. Suddenly, Lacy becomes a target, dragged down into a swamp of greed, corruption...and murder. Now Drake Randolph might be the only one in Motown who can keep Lacy alive....

Awful,. Disappointed in Beverly Jenkins
This book is awful!! The story and the narration are so stereotypical . The phony so called "ghetto" dialect, the all to typical story of inner city corruption...boring, lacks imagination and a huge disappointment. Stick with the historical novels that teach more about the contributions of African Americans have made to this country rather than this novel of inner city graft. Please don't assume that every Black person speaks Ebonics.

what the he'll happen with the voice
the reader changed the voice for lacy sounds so bad should have kept regular voice. But love the book. but hard to listen to the butchered Lacy voice

Green Snow
This was a very real story line. This happens in most under-served and poverty stricken areas. The story line is also very true to the political climate today.

Nice story
Quick read/listen enjoyed the narrator. She was able to diversify her voice which enhanced each character. Even though I read these out of sequence I was able to follow and the author tying up the mystery of the brothers father, was excellent. It gives the reader the back story of “why” the brothers are the way they are.
