Description

Quitting her husband's house and moving back in with her horrible family, Lady Maccon becomes the scandal of the London season.

Queen Victoria dismisses her from the Shadow Council, and the only person who can explain anything, Lord Akeldama, unexpectedly leaves town. To top it all off, Alexia is attacked by homicidal mechanical ladybugs, indicating, as only ladybugs can, the fact that all of London's vampires are now very much interested in seeing Alexia quite thoroughly dead.

While Lord Maccon elects to get progressively more inebriated and Professor Lyall desperately tries to hold the Woolsey werewolf pack together, Alexia flees England for Italy in search of the mysterious Templars. Only they know enough about the preternatural to explain her increasingly inconvenient condition, but they may be worse than the vampires - and they're armed with pesto.

Blameless is the third book of the Parasol Protectorate series: a comedy of manners set in Victorian London, full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea drinking.

Recording oddities

This is the third book in the series, and the first that has overly extended pauses at some scene and chapter breaks. Some were long enough that I had to look to make sure my device hadn’t suddenly stopped playing! I don’t know whether it’s a narrator or production glitch, but it would be really nice if the excess “dead air” was removed.

Great silly fun

Not Booker prize material, but a satisfying, silly distraction from an overburdened life. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Alexia mayhem on the road

Alexia finds herself the Pariah of society when Lord Maccon refuses to believe that he is the father of her child and they part. She is then betrayed by her sister Felicity who makes her news public and has Alexia ejected from the family home. When she accepts Lord Akeldama’s offer to stay with him, she finds he has left town. Then the attempts on her life begin in earnest.
Alexia, Lefoux, & Floote travel to Italy to try to obtain information from the Templars regarding her condition, and the Great Chase begins. When Maccon surfaces from his shock and intoxication, has a lot to make up for.
Gray does a good job of narration.

Carry on our wayward SOULLESS one(spoiler alert)

Where does Blameless rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the fantastic stories I have heard by Gail Carriger. I enjoyed the storyline very much!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blameless?

Connall's realization of his stupidity and his very public apology!

Have you listened to any of Emily Gray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have with the previous two books in the series also read by Emily Gray. I enjoy her narration and her ability to make different voices and accents! She' s great!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed and blushed quite a bit!

Any additional comments?

Excellent story by an excellent author! Love this series!

Good series, interesting world

I really like the characters she their development. The interactions are much better than a lot of more well known books. Some things about the setting I don't particularly care for, like the undead nature of all supernaturals, but these things are easily overlooked due to the strong story and character development.

The saga continues

I will be sad when this series comes to an end....they are becoming old friends. This is kinda a bridge book, one that moves you along the story line. Not a whole lot of action/interaction, but one in which the minor characters, that we met before, take on a bit more depth. Predictable but fun....looking forward to number 4.

Another great story!

I was waiting to find out what happened with the loving couple that had been pulled apart, and Gail didn't disappoint! This book again struck a great balance in action, intrigue, and a British posh attitude. If you like the first two, you will love this one!

An Endlessly Entertaining Writer

I think very few authors are so whimsical, so literary, and writes with such quality. If you wanted a novel of manners that is fun and well written, this is for you. Emily Gray is a fantastic reader. I would highly recommend this novel, or any other in the series.
