Description
When Sienna Hegarty turns up at his family home one night, covered in blood and frozen in shock, psychologist Joe O'Loughlin finds himself drawn deep into her world, trying to unearth the dark secrets her mind has buried. The police find a major piece of the puzzle at Sienna’s house: her father, a retired cop, is face-down in a pool of his own blood, his throat slashed and his skull caved in. The blood covering Sienna was his.
The 14-year-old can’t remember what happened that night but, at the same time, Sienna doesn’t mourn her father’s death. What was going on behind closed doors in the Hegarty household? Is Sienna guilty of brutal murder? And what part has her charismatic teacher, Gordon Ellis, played in this blood-soaked event?

Very good.
The sort of material that the brilliant Sean Barrett shines at narrating. Admittedly it’s probably not for everyone. The MC is an introspective older man facing a lot of demons, amidst a brutal plot. There is plenty of action, but the main theme is one of him negotiating the constant obstacles in his life

Another Great Installment To The Series
I discovered the Joseph O'Loughlin series when I received a daily e-mail regarding bargain Kindle books. It was for the fourth book by Michael Robotham, Shatter. I have now gone back and read the first book, Suspect; the second book, Lost, the third book (which really isn't about Joe), The Night Freight. All were good books because this author is a fantastic writer. He has a style of writing that holds your interest throughout all of his books. My only suggestion, is that folks might want to read his earlier books before this one. While the books can stand alone, I am recommending to all my friends that they read them in order (maybe skipping The Night Ferry) because once you read one of his books, I think you may just fall in love with his style of writing, like I did. To date, there are 7 books. I have not read the sixth book, The Wreckage, yet (because it isn't about Joe either), but I have read his latest "Say You're Sorry". I truly enjoyed all six books. and am looking forward to reading more of his books in this series.

Perfect Combination
Robotham and Barrett.
Downloaded 'Bleed for Me' after listening to ''The Wreckage'. Apart from being great stories, well told, I am finding that the situations used are ones I could perhaps skip away from, only to find when I bit the 'bullet' and started listening I found myself interested and engaged. Being written mostly in first person, present tense does bring an immediacy to the story. The pace is consistent to the end. A good listen.
I am not surprised Michael Robotham has won The Ned Kelly twice, and is in good company with Peter Temple (also a winner of The Ned Kelly).

Excellent. Another success for Michael Robotham
My wife and I have both listened to all of Michael Robotham's books now. They are compelling stories with flawed but fascinating and sympathetic characters. I could listen to Sean Barrett all day. We can't wait for more.

bloody good
Would you consider the audio edition of Bleed for Me to be better than the print version?
never read the book. cannot compare.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bleed for Me?
the sleazy guys from the escort service...i could see and picture them very well thanks to the description and voice acting.
Which scene was your favorite?
when he finally dispatched the bad guy.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
not really, but maybe because i listened to another story by Robotham prior to this title, i was a bit 'Robotham-fatigued'. Nonetheless, a great story.

Main plot good, subplot depressing
I enjoyed the plot. I enjoyed the writing. I enjoyed the performance.
I didn't enjoy the depressing life that the main character lives. Fast forwarding became a very viable option when yet another awful/sad thing happens to him.
And yet another divorcing/divorced character in a book. Please authors, can't you use something a bit more original to inject angst in your stories? Not EVERYONE divorces.
That's only my opinion of course.
Not his best book.

Would you consider the audio edition of Bleed for Me to be better than the print version?
I have been through all of Michael Connelly detective Harry Bosch's cases, Jo Nesbo's Harry Hole and now reading Michael Robotham's Joe O'loughlin. I love Sean Barrett narrating, you really feel part of the energy of the characters when he reads. I used to read but now only listen to novels. For me the narrator is important as well as the characters and plot. These three detectives tick the boxes for me.
What about Sean Barrett’s performance did you like?
I love Sean Barrett narration, he falls comfortably into each of his personas top marks
Any additional comments?
Excellent read and top narration well done

I have read a few of Michael Robothams books over the past months of being sheltered at home during lockdown and this one was no exception. His stories are riveting and the narrator- Sean Barrett is excellent in creating so many different voices and accents.

I enjoyed this book from Michael Robotham
I am slowly working my way through this series featuring London psychologist Professor Joe O'Loughlin. He is an introspective character battling with Parkinson's disease and the failure of his marriage who finds himself drawn into bizarre murder crimes that few others recognise or acknowledge. In this instance investigations into the death of his daughter's school friend's father are only the tip of the iceberg. Michael Robotham's books are good value for multilayered stories with mystery, suspense and unexpected twists and turns in the plot. This is another top tier effort and well narrated by Sean Barrett.
