Description

We were best friends at 10.
Lovers at 16.
Going to be married at 19.

Until she woke up one day and couldn't remember me.

Leaving the small town was easy. Leaving her was my only regret. Ten years later, with a resume that said I had the perfect kill shot, I landed a job at a security firm. Finding my way in the civilian life, I never thought it would be her I would find.

She still owned my heart. She still looked at me like I was a stranger. I wasn't leaving her again. This time, we were playing by my rules. I'd been given a second chance to right my wrongs and I was going to start by claiming what was mine.

We were lovers at 28.
Getting married at 29.

Until she woke up and remembered me.

Second Chance Romance With All The Twists

This is a super fresh take on a second chance romance. I can honestly say I’ve never heard anything like it before. I don’t even know what to say. I don’t want to give anything away. The twists have twists in this book. It will keep you guessing right up til the end. I’m blown away.

The narration is awesome

Plot was great, writing wasn't as strong

In a nutshell, the plot was great but the writing was weak.

I love amnesia stories, so when the author was offering audio codes I jumped at the chance. The blurb sounded GOOD and I bumped this one to the top of my TBR.

This is the kind of story that you have to be careful how you write a scene so the reader doesn't figure it out too quickly. Here's an example of how that failed, with the spoilers removed: When (spoiler happened) ..there was so much fumbling that I had it figured out and was ready to skip through the next 20 sentences that were just taking up space. In this case, the author gave TOO MANY clues as to what was happening that it lost the impact.

The plot of the story had great twists, but around 50% I was ready to DNF because it was getting a little OTT. (Ex: She panics and jumps into the water to "save him" when he dives in and doesn't come up right away. He's a freaking Navy SEAL. They can hold their breath at LEAST 2 minutes. And SHE'S going to save HIM? Um. ok. Oh yeah, and she can't dive because she put on a lifevest right before she jumped in. *sigh*)

The narrators were good, but not great (to me.) Melissa Moran has a way of dropping the "T" in words that got distracting. Ex: Brigh'en instead of brighten. Gregory Salinas was fine.

So many twists and surprises

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions and so, so much drama! I can literally almost say nothing about this book because so much happens and I don't want to spoil anything. You think one thing is happening and then all of a sudden a surprise twist pops up and it blew it my mind. I enjoyed listening to this book because I honestly had no idea what was going to come next. There are a few things that I didn't like but I can't tell you because spoilers are no fun. But for the most part, this book was pretty fantastic! I highly recommend if you enjoy angst and plot twists!

The duel narration made this listen so much more entertaining. They did a great job!

A Good Listen

Well I didn’t expect this book to be as good as it is. The story is good with lots of surprises. The narrators are amazing as they are able to handle all the changes in the characters in the book. This one I would recommend to my friends.
