Interesting (if graphic) story with several good twists, did figure out the villain but it took a while!

Some of the details were unnecessary and over the top— eg. fecal matter in the wound. The final death in freezing water was unrealistic and ridiculous.

In general this is a good story. It just did not capture me consistently and evenly. Perhaps I need to give K. Slaughter another try.

love this book, this is a great read, I don't rate more books as I get caught in this having to comment when all I really want to do is say it's a really good book

fantastic read, fave read a few times now

The first book in the Grant County series and Karin Slaughter has made me want to listen to the next. Her main characters are interesting though I feel like I only really got to know the female lead, the male lead is not really fully fleshed out. The narrator is wonderful and though she has a very feminine voice, she adds depth and cadence to her voice and you feel you are getting the full range of characters. I guessed the murderer early on, but did have a change of opinion a couple of times, until he was revealed. I also like that the author writes her villains as real people and not someone who can be shot 5 times and still come back to do damage to the hero/heroine.

I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end.
The writing and the narrating was perfect.
Karin is by far my most favorite author.
Looking forward to reading Book 2 of the Grant County series.
