À propos de cet audio

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • In this spellbinding novel, Lestat, rebel outlaw, addresses the tribe of vampires, telling us the mesmerizing story of how he became prince of the vampire world, and of the formation of the Blood Communion, and how his vision for the Children of the Universe to thrive as one, came to be.

Lestat takes us from his ancestral castle in the snow-covered mountains of France to the verdant wilds of lush Louisiana, with its lingering fragrances of magnolias and night jasmine; from the far reaches of the Pacific’s untouched islands to the 18th-century city of St. Petersburg and the court of the Empress Catherine. He speaks of his fierce battle of wits and words with the mysterious Rhoshamandes, proud Child of the Millennia, reviled outcast for his senseless slaughter of the legendary ancient vampire Maharet, avowed enemy of Queen Akasha, who refuses to live in harmony at court and who threatens all Lestat has dreamt of....

I have been reading Anne Rice since I was in my 20s, 30 years now. 1. This book was not the Vampire Chronicles I have become accustomed to. It seemed like a lot of filler for very little story and why has Lestat become this passive, nice guy all of the sudden? The Lestat I am familiar with would never have sat by for even one second if someone took someone he loved no matter how powerful they were. This almost felt like it was written by someone else. 2. I don't mean to be insulting but that was a cruel joke to go from Simon Vance (one of the best narrators in my opinion) to Eric Shaw Quinn. There was very little separating the characters and it is VERY frustrating when narrators do not say the names consistently. He kept losing the name Amel in the dialogue.

Totally underwhelmed

I found it a very fitting end to the vampire chronicles, and I'm sad it will be the last. I enjoyed it a lot more than a few of the ones which happened in the middle of the series, and it felt more of a return to their roots. Very sad to hear the last of Lestat, but also happy it ended here in a way that I enjoyed.

Narrator was possibly the worst of all the audiobooks though. He was a fine speaker, but really didn't suit the novels. He was very up beat and lacked the depth which the others had. He also mispronounced many of their names compared to the way the other narrators pronounced them, which was distracting.

Sad to be finished

I loved the story but the voice artist was not to my liking. as I have listened to all the vampire chronicles books online I have become accustomed to Simon Vance as the voice of lestat. I have managed to deal with the others that have played him but for some reason this interpretation of lestat just drove me nuts.

a fitting end to the vampire chronicles

Terrible narrator. Boring story, which was just a jumble of stories that could happen any day in the vampire court. Likely won't be blindly buying the next one.

Nope, I can't, I won't.
It's over? Can it really be over? just like that. The story was OK. I don't really think that it should have ended like that.
Out of all the stories SHE wrote, that's the One she saw & said "Perfect".. Could have had a much better "Climax". Feels a little weak it all.
PS. I believe that the narrator is somehow related to the Rices.. That's the only way he could have gotten the JOB. Just awful narration.
