By all accounts, Carol and Roy Opgard are doing quite well for themselves. Or at least they are doing as well as can be expected in a small town like Os. Carl manages the area's swanky and successful spa, while Roy runs the local gas station and dreams of building it into an entire amusement park complete with a roller coaster. But then news breaks about a new highway that will bypass Os and leave the town cut off and isolated. Something has to be done about that, even if the methods need to be dirty. Fortunately, Roy and Carl have experience with dirty work.

Meanwhile, the town sheriff has gotten his hands on new technology that will enable him to take a deeper look at a spate of unsolved murders from years past—including that of his own father. Just as the sheriff reopens his investigation, the death toll begins to climb. Like Roy says about his roller coaster: "Once it is rolling, it's too late to get off."

Keeping it brief, just wanted to show my love for this sequel.
Always loved the first book, even listened to it twice when I usually can’t stand to relisten/rewatch things. Pre-ordered immediately and was all giddy when I found out there was going to be a second book, couldn’t wait to find out what else could the brothers possibly get into this time.
The story and the characters were compelling as expected, love the way Roy Opgard sees the world and the way he interacts with other people, it really sucked me in. Everything was wrapped up in a satisfying way, I was super tense as things unfolded.
As for the narration/audiobook reader, I must say that I wasn’t used to his way of speaking when I picked up the first book, but the narrator really grew on me and he really *became* Roy Opgard as I got to know the main character better. I was happy to hear that the same guy read this one too, his voice and manner of speaking felt really nostalgic, he really does portray Roy well.

10/10, would listen to it again.
