Good listen with no conclusion

the book has a good sense of humor and keeps one entertained, but ultimately the story is inconclusive and concludes in a strange and poorly constructed way.

He said, she said, they did.

Oh my goodness. (Let me just say, I’m using “family friendly”, words here to describe the absolute worst writing I have listened to in a very long time)

With around 2 hours of torture left on the series, I just had to stop to listen to something else.

My brain was starting to rot.

This book is basically.
Redneck (I am one, so this pisses me off even more), lucks into extreme money to do anything with them gets an alien saucer and a hot alien wife.

There is absolutely zero uniqueness or real protagonists in the story, nothing difficult for him to overcome, no real world building.

Just a never ending stream of new characters that love the main character as he goes about making boatloads of money and gives it away to his ever increasing number of friends.

The tropes and sayings, are extremely overused. As the main character follows a step by step account of a day in his life, on repeat.

The premise of the book. Guy meets and marries alien girl, builds a secret hideout and uses cool alien tech to beat back a oppressive government has promis as an interesting story.

The book might be interesting if it was rewritten as a life voice play, eliminating all the “he said, she said”. It needs an extreme amount of editing if not a complete rewrite.

The dude with alien tech doesn’t barely even leave the earth. Doesn’t do anything besides crack bad jokes, and spend obscene amounts of cash.

Seriously someone check on the mental health of the author, I think he’s having cash-flow issues and dreaming about money.

Yes. I know this is a negative review. I’m sorry, I wanted to like the book, I really tried. It does have some cool interesting parts, the elements of a good story are there. Percolating. If only they would be arranged on paper in a way that doesn’t make me want to… ok. I’ll keep it family friendly.

Dude, seriously. Don’t give up writing. You’ve got some cool ideas and stories wanting to be told. Just get a really really good editor, and explore other ways of writing.

Oh. As for the narration, he did a good job. I enjoyed the drawl and jokes, and attitude.
