À propos de cet audio

1916. The Russian Empire is crumbling under the weight of defeat in the World War I and the imminent Revolution. Irina Yakovleva is a 17-year-old girl of noble birth living in Moscow. She falls in love with a young and ambitious lawyer Nikolai Rakelov. They marry in the middle of the tumultuous 1917 right before the Bolshevik Revolution. A few months later, Nikolai is murdered by a group of four Bolshevik soldiers while Irina is left alive to be raped and later executed. She escapes only to learn that her father, also a prominent attorney and a politician is brutally murdered by the Bolsheviks in St. Petersburg. Irina survives the Russian Civil War and the Red Terror and ends up in Paris in the early 1920s. She eventually marries Nicholas Terner, an influential Frenchman of aristocratic bloodline, and becomes Countess Terner. While enjoying the Paris high society, Irina is consumed by hatred and the need to avenge the murders.

To satisfy her longing for vengeance, the naïve, kind, and romantic girl returns to Soviet Russia to become a cold-blooded killer.
