À propos de cet audio

A woman disappears on her way to work. A man is convicted of her murder. But this case is different. Though the police believe they have the right man, key components of the prosecution case are missing. There is no body of the victim, no witnesses to the crime, no confession and no physical evidence: no DNA, CCTV or murder weapon.

Journalists and TV producers Darrell Brown and Sophie Ellis examine the extraordinary case of Suzanne Pilley, a woman who vanished whilst on her way to work in Edinburgh in 2010. The pair has spent two years investigating the case and speaking exclusively to David Gilroy - the man who was found guilty of killing Suzanne and disposing of her body. He is currently serving a life sentence in a Scottish jail.

But Gilroy says he is innocent: victim of a miscarriage of justice.

Darrell and Sophie are not so sure. They explore Gilroy’s claims that the investigation and trial were mishandled, that key pieces of evidence were not presented in court and witnesses were not contacted.

The pair uncover startling information, not heard in court, that might have changed the minds of the jury. And they shine a light on aspects of the Scottish criminal justice system that might be keeping an innocent man behind bars.

This story is not finished. Did I miss a few chapters? This is not quite the story I had expected at all. I am left hanging....

beautifully produced, compelling, but without a resolution seems cruel to victims family in the end

Great Build Up With No Pay off

Very intriguing story of justice and injustice that changes lives and affects so many. Questioning the justice or lack there of, the search for truth remains out of our grasp. From the start the police focus on one individual and never explore other possibilities. It leaves me with many questions. I recommend this series to anyone interested in ‘who-done-it’ podcasts/novels.

Interesting and Shocking

WARNING Some spoilers.
I enjoyed the format and story however, if this weren't a free audiobook, I would have asked for my money back. That's why Audible is terrific!

They 'forget' to mention:

1. He had cuts and bruises all over. He put makeup/concealer on the back of his hands before he spoke to the police.

2. His trunk smelled like cleaning solution. And speaking of trunks, I always move stuff out of mine when putting large loads in my car-like his umbrella which appears and disappears on CCTV.

3. He turned his phone off (yes they can tell!) during a long period of time each direction of his trip.

4. There was vegetation stuck to the underside of his car from going into the bush.

Authors omitted key facts to suit their 'story'

Such amazing tension building in the beginning, I could feel that heartbreaking drop in my chest at certain moments. However, I almost stopped the book when it spiralled into soap opera/kdrama clichés halfway through. I really don’t think it was necessary as the built up tension and triangle was more than enough and almost felt like lazy writing. The ending was cute.

Really good start, almost lost me in the middle

was a bit long for in the end not still not knowing. it would have been nice to release this once the truth came out or when a resolution was available

The miscarriage of justice in this case is so appalling! Investigative journalism at its best! I just had to binge listen, especially being from Edinburgh!!

The story is good and all. I just had a problem with the ending. I was expecting them to at least speak of whatever happened after the appeal.

I was hoping they'd finish it

The presentation felt very "British" in how audio was cut, overlaid. The story is leading and format present facts up front, but slowly introduces then to keep you listening. That last fact is irritating, but lengthens the episodes. Worth listening to though. 8/10

Good story.
