À propos de cet audio
In Fiasco, Kentucky, there is one rule: never fall for a Foxx brother.
Any woman who did, ended up dead. It wasn’t just a rumor. It was my reality. I buried my wife along with too many secrets surrounding the night she died.
Now, I’m a single dad with two priorities above everything else: raising my two girls and making great bourbon.
But when Faye Calloway returns after I ran her out of my small town—looking like a fantasy on stage and nothing like the cop she was trained to be—I know for a fact that she’s hiding more secrets than the one she blackmailed me to keep.
While everyone is focused on the teasingly beautiful burlesque dancer, I’m distracted by the woman with a hidden agenda. The smart-mouth, who says what she wants. And the instigator, who prefers a very specific way to drink her bourbon.
But as secrets begin to unravel, I realize she’s fiercely protective of the ones she loves. When she puts herself in danger to right the past, the rules stop mattering.
Only two things have the power to keep my family from falling apart and losing the woman I love—bourbon and secrets.

I think a big part of this was Lincoln giving off a much different vibe than what I anticipated. While the Foxx men in general have this sort of broody, tough, mysterious thing going on, I expected Lincoln to be the softest being that he’s a dad, but that was not the case… He was a bit of a jerk at times, and I didn’t expect him to be someone who was big on casual hookups. I feel like the style of Lee Samuels’s narration further built upon the jerk vibes for me too.
I would have liked us to get a bit more of an insight into what happened between Lincoln and his wife before she passed away (this was sort of mentioned without too much depth, whereas I felt like we got a lot more of a backstory for Faye). I also found Hadley’s presence to be a lot less significant in this book than what I had expected given that she is Lincoln’s best friend. I would have liked to see a few heart-to-heart moments between them where he could work through some of his thoughts/feelings, but she really wasn’t around much.
Megan Wicks as Faye was ♾️/5⭐️ and I can’t wait to listen to another book performed by her.
All around an enjoyable listen/read, but I guess it is hard to live up to the expectations I’d set out when the first book in the series imprinted on my soul!
